The Sunshine State – Florida – has so much going for it that we hardly know where to begin! From Key West all the way to Jacksonville and Pensacola, this diverse state has magnificent beaches attracting beautiful people and exotic wildlife.
At its tip are the incredible Everglades, largely accessible only by air boat. East, Miami is known for its Latin American vibe and the Art Deco buildings of glamorous Miami Beach. Fort Lauderdale is nicknamed ‘Venice of America', while Palm Beach hosts the annual SunFest music festival. Panama City is a favourite Florida spring break destination, and Tampa has popular party spot Ybor City and Busch Gardens, one of many Florida theme parks.
The most famous are of course Walt Disney World, Epcot, SeaWorld and Universal Studios Florida. We got great Hispanic food from a local grocery where we were able to get essentials, was recommended a nice taxi service that we called several times and also booked for our 4am pickup to the airport. I didn't like the fact that Housekeeping was knocking on the door at 9:00 to clean the room check out is at 11:00 she woke us up and I had to answer the door to tell her we would be leaving around 10:30-10:45 then she proceeded to have a conversation outside our door with another Housekeeper so we were not able to go back to sleep. I was not happy about this part of my stay. Yes, it can be touristy but I have been coming to PCB for 55 years and I love it!! The beach is beautiful and the water is usually awesome as well. My biggest tip is go eat dinner early, you won't have to wait long, if at all. Get a decent beach umbrella. We use 2! Pack your patience!! The traffic can be annoying. The location of our rental property was centrally located ( 20-30 min drive)to all of the theme parks. While we only visited the Universal parks, Disney is just around the corner from the property. There are many food venues near the rental, as well as numerous Pubix and Walmarts to pick up any necessities. The kitchen has everything needed for a quick meal at home, if you so desire. I Love Key West in the Fall-in particular October. It's lower rates at motels and so many good restaurants to eat at make this a wonderful R & R experience. I usually rent a bicycle to get around the local sites. The ocean at this time of the year is perfect with little to no people around.
