For me, a good hotel needs to have two things: a decent room and hospitable people to welcome you. And that’s exactly what you’ll find here. A perfect 10 for everything — from the accommodation to the staff. I’ll definitely stay at this same place when I return to Mamooth Lakes.

Whispering pines is a great place to stay if you’re passing through the June lake area. Very simple hotel, with all the amenities including a full kitchen with an electric stove burner. The only complaint was that there were no pots or pans to cook with, so bring a pan if you want to cook breakfast.

This place is in one word amazing,.it is not only located idyllically surrounded by mountains, lakes hiking trails etc. it offers a fantastic spa (pool, hottub, sauna etc. where you were offered sandals, towels , robe etc. complimentary) . The restaurant has a great menu , also vegan or vegetarian options, the food is very tasteful and the excellent choice of breakfast is a great start of the day. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. I travelled a lot but this place really stands out and I will definitely return , highly recommended!

The location is pefect, a quick drive to the lakes or a mini bus ride. The room is comfortable but it is visible that this is a winter resort as well, being banged up from skis and ski shoes.

They can't get the mountain ready when it snows and they shut it down when it's windy on the 5-day weekend from Christmas to Sunday the first two days they were only half days Friday and Saturday they were totally closed and Sunday was a madhouse and that's the risk you take when you go to Mammoth so I tell everyone to go to salt lake City which is a much more fun town and the skiing is better and the hotels are much cheaper

My husband had a great day of fly fishing. I relaxed on the deck with a good book. There are so many things to do in the June Lake area. We did some sight seeing. We usually come to relax, swim and fish. We ate at the Tiger Bar for dinner and as usual, it was delicious! We hope to be back soon!

Lee Vining is a cool small town with a vintage vibe. It has a couple of great casual restaurants, shops with local Yosemite / Eastern Sierra themed merchandise, fishing/hiking gear and a gas station. It is the ultimate gateway stay for a trip into Yosemite National Park.

The last time I stayed in Mammoth Lakes/Old Mammoth was 20 years ago, and my, oh my, has the town changed significantly. From a very small, sleepy town to a hip-and-happening ski and sun [resort] town, Mammoth is beautiful and picturesque. . . where my family and I stayed was very quiet and serene. Note: if you stay closer by the main streets, you'll obviously hear vehicles zipping by. Personally, I like staying by the mountains where there are brooks and streams within walking distance. We arrived on the Sunday before Memorial Day and stayed a few days after. What a difference! Once the Monday/Memorial Day hit, all the weekend warriors left except for the locals. It was GREAT because we seemed to have the whole town to ourselves. . . biking, hiking, and a leisurely Yosemite road trip. What a great time we had! I highly recommend Mammoth and its surrounding areas.

June Lake features some of the best fishing on the planet!

June Lake features some of the best fishing on the planet! From Lake fishing to creek and river fishing, there are a lot of choices. Additionally, the hiking is amazing, with entrances to the JMT and PCT with access to some amazing alpine lakes and sights. Don't expect Aspen Colorado! June is quaint and laid back - perfect for a "slow it down" break from life's crazy speed.

Town is tiny and benefits from location near Yosemite entrance road. It’s all about location. Prices are too high for what you get. The convenience of the location was what we were paying for. Final price was higher than I was quoted due to an “ environmental fee.”

Mammoth Lakes is a nature wonderland!

Mammoth Lakes is a nature wonderland! Known as a ski area but there is so much more than winter sports. There are many lakes, hiking, biking, and walking trails to explore both in Mammoth and nearby. The fall colors were exceptional. Many of the restaurants were closed early in the week and only open weekends or renovating for the upcoming winter season but we were still able to find good meals at locally owned restaurants. We explored Convict Lake, Mamie Lake, Mary Lake, the June Lake/Silver Lake Loop.

There's a beach and it's nice, you'll have to drive to it regardless and none of the hotels have a real view of the lake from them except maybe some houses on the hill if they're AirBnBs.

Great town to visit anytime, though getting here in winter...

Great town to visit anytime, though getting here in winter is sometimes perilous, and most of the town shuts down. There are a plethora of activities to do Spring thru Fall...hiking, biking, kayaking, exploring via vehicle, with Yosemite close enough for day trips. In Spring and Summer, a birder's paradise...bring a spotting scope!. Options narrow in Winter, but still plenty of basin, birds, beaches, and craters to explore. Mono Lake Committee store/visitor's center provides a wealth of info, as does the official Mono Lake Visitor's center. The Mobile Station at the Hwy 120 turnoff to Yosemite has Whoa Nellie Deli - great food, MARGARITAS, and occasional live music in summer..
