The staff couldn't answer all our (I must admit) very specific questions related to the organisation of our trip, but they were really eager to help. The room was large and comfortable. Charming and modern design enchants a visitor at the first glance. The hotel is suited close to the city center, within walkable distance, however still providing silent haven, where you can relax by the poolside, after exhausting sightseeing or a tour in scorching tropical weather of southern Vietnam. Internal design and cleanliness makes you feel like being in a movie with Richard Gere. Nothing less could be said about a room, both cosy and aromatic. Special note is to be made about hotel's staff. These super friendly people would help you with anything, extremely polite and always available, speaking from my personal experience as we have encountered medical situation demanding a doctor. Thanks to these qualified personnel, It took no longer than 10 minutes from staff being notified until a doctor examining us at the nearest hospital. Definately recommend to have a dinner or a drink at least, at the rooftop bar! We would be honoured to visit the Mai House Saigon hotel once again!

    Overall, my experience in Ho Chi Minh City was disappointing...

    Overall, my experience in Ho Chi Minh City was disappointing. The language barrier made communication difficult, and in many cases, vendors didn’t seem interested in trying to understand. Prices for tourists were often extremely inflated, and places like Ben Thanh Market felt like a complete rip-off. The staff there were quite rude, and if you decided not to purchase an item after checking it, they would become visibly upset or even say things in their language, which was uncomfortable and unpleasant. The city itself is very busy, crowded, and overwhelming, and the overall atmosphere felt stressful rather than enjoyable. I also had a negative experience at massage parlours—nothing about tipping was mentioned beforehand, but after a basic 30-minute massage, they would demand a minimum USD $5 tip, even when the service was not good. One of the most disappointing parts of the trip was at the international airport, where the immigration officers were extremely rude. The queues for immigration and check-in were chaotic and disorganised. If the city wants to attract more tourists, these areas definitely need improvement. On a positive note, I will say the café culture was lovely — Vietnam has some beautiful cafés and great coffee experiences.

    Great city. Vietnamese are cool - so friendly!! Lots to see & do. Food is great. Bui Vien is a tourist trap but lots of fun. The streets surrounding Bui Vien for accom & food are really good value!

    Great escape from the bustling city of Saigon, only 1.5hrs traveling by motorbike ... Many historical sites to dive into, plenty of serene countryside rice fields & bumpy offroad trails to explore ... If seeking accommodations, be sure to check out Les Hameaux de l'Orient :)
