Very clean, stylish. The staff welcomed us and introduced us to the accomodation. I recommend you choose stay with meal included. Private onsen in the room but I liked especially the public onsen.

Located in 15-minute bus ride from JR Takayama Station, Guest House & Cafe SOY is surrounded by lush greenery. Free WIFi is provided and free private parking is available on site.

Tai was so wonderful, he helped us look for day trips, restaurants and took us again and again to the city. We felt so at home with Tai and his mother welcoming us and constantly giving us little sweets and tips for Japan. Would love to come back again.

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station.

Wonderful family run Auberge with beautiful comfy beds overlooking the forest. Lovely baths with gorgeous toiletries. A little out of town but a shuttle is offered for transportation. Fabulous dinner with a very unusual but delicious wine pairings. Breakfasts were delicious.

Located in the centre of Takayama Historic District, Ryokan Tanabe 旅館田邊 is one of the most historical ryokans in the city. It features Japanese-style rooms and free WiFi in all areas.

This was a true authentic ryokan experience. Lovely staff, perfect location and delicious dinner two nights. We slept well on double futons and enjoyed the Onsen ( sitting outside in a warm tub while it was raining was so relaxing!) We will come again if we return to Takayama!

Great location next to the old town district. excellent facilities friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in the Imperial Suite...very generous size and great facilities. excellent breakfast in a private room. We had one dinner at the hotel and it was very good.

Excellent value for money at this hotel in the mountains. I had the place to myself as a solo traveller and felt I was getting a great deal for a huge room and private hot spring bath looking out over trees with real hot spring water from the area. Private balcony in the room and all! Authentic Japanese breakfast and dinner and the host made the effort to change my advance order from fish to beef after I'd learned beef is a speciality in the region, and my god was it good. The hotel is slightly old fashioned in some of its design but I didn't feel that was a problem, and you would do best to have a car if you want to explore the area, but the hotel itself is right on a bus stop to Takayama so you can easily travel there like I did as a solo traveller getting public transport. Staff spoke English and were super attentive.

Renovated in 2014, Kazeya overlooks the majestic Hida mountain range, and offers public and private hot spring-baths.

We went to Kazeya in our honeymoon. We had an upgrade for a room with a private Onsen and it was amazing. I couldn’t ask for a more perfect resting after walking days and days in Tokyo. The food in this Onsen was perfect and the staff speak good english. Everyting was perfect. Thank you so much for the hospitality

Everything was fantastic. Stuff didn't speak much english but we could communicate really well. Everything was written and easy to understand. The atmosphere was wonderful. It's a traditional building with a bit old equipment but very well kept. It just added to the experience. Location was really close to everything.We would spend more nights here if we knew what great experience we will get.
