The property is a few minutes walk from Durbar square. Although the hotel was doing building work they let us stay. We were not troubled by the work and the hotel owner was extremely friendly. The hotel is in a narrow street with not much traffic, just the occasional motorbike (unlike other streets nearby which are full of bikes), and therefore relatively quiet given its situation in the middle of the city. We would not hesitate to stay again.

I recently stayed at the Apsara Boutique Hotel in Kathmandu and was thoroughly impressed. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time there and were impressed with the high level of service. The design is breathtaking, each corner is full of unique elements. It’s looking like a nawari court from decades ago. The rooms are gorgeous, very big and comfortable.

Nestled within beautifully landscaped grounds, Shambaling Hotel is a charming refurbished house from the 70s.

Our stay at Shambling Boutique Hotel was both an amazing start for our visit to Nepal as well as a beautiful gift for Christmas. Every little detail was so charming and full of heartwarming hospitality. It started with the smooth and welcoming pick-up from the airport, the warm reception, and continued with the tastefully decorated room, the perfect cleanliness, hot water (in Nepali winter) and the incredibly cosy bed. he food was just another highlight: breakfast set in the serene garden and dinner in the restaurant under the Christmas tree, we enjoyed every delicious bite and sip. But what stood out the most was the skilful and truly caring staff. Whenever even a hint of a wish arose, someone was already there to make it come true. Always gentle, always with a solution right on the spot and always with a bright smile. This is hospitality at it's best.
