Very charming, family-run hotel in the hills of the Douro Valley with not only an extraordinary view on the bending river. But most strikingly - the house has personality which obviously reflects the owner’s passion for place, history and intimacy. Vintage items, personal photos here and there makes you feel like staying at a friends’ place who also has lovely recommendations at hand when you look for places to explore. And if you want to just relax and enjoy the view - the hotel’s pool and the surrounding terraces are just perfect to calm down. Moreover: one of us was sick during our stay - and the hosts were super helpful, understanding and supporting, this was extraordinary. Thank you so much!

First and foremost, your beautiful establishment and grounds and the incredible views! In addition, the staff was very accommodating and friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious - from the charcuterie board when we arrived to our dinner in the dining room as well as the incredible breakfast buffet! Amazing breakfast, with freshly made juices, house-made yogurts, kombucha and jams. Selection of pastries, muffins, donuts and sourdough breads. Cornucopia of fruits, nuts, granolas. Healthy options to perfectly executed crispy bacons, they have it all. Their focus on producing herbs/vegetables in the edible garden and efforts to minimize waste/plastic usage are highly commendable, as well as beautiful. Minibar, snacks and even port wine was offered for free in the room. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable.

Sérgio was lovely, what an incredible host! He sorted taxis for us to and from Ermida station, shared his homemade port, and made sure to check in with us on a regular (but not over the top) basis. This was an incredible break in a beautiful part of the world. Great value for money for our 4 nights! Others have noted the bed is on the shorter side, fine for me at 179cm, but only just. And no AC, but there is a fan. It's a no frills place in a lovely town, as long as you expect that you'll have a great time. . We'll stay again if we're ever back in the region!
