Featuring tropical gardens and a charming rustic touch, Pousada Búzios Garden offers a pool, free WiFi. It is located next to the popular Orla Bardot waterfront. I chose the pousada for 1) its location, 2) the rate, 3) the likelihood of more Brazilian clients (i.e., away from the hyped-up resort type of pousadas), and 4) the reviews. The reviews mostly praised the friendliness of the staff. That was definitely a selling point. I could not agree more. The staff is excellent throughout the entire facility: polite, willing to help immediately, has a good sense of humor, and always smiles. Plus, the pousada was quiet at night for a relaxing sleep.

Boasting free WiFi, Hotel Boutique Recanto da Passagem is situated in Cabo Frio, 1.6 km from Water Square and 2 km from Forte Beach. Excellent upper-scale pousada. Professional and friendly staff. Very good location for walking to main beach and a variety of restaurants. Secure parking. Very comfortable room and beds. In-house restaurant food very good. Superb breakfast. Very relaxing pool area.

Offering an outdoor pool, Buzios Espiritualidade is set within a natural reserve in Búzios, 13 km from the Armação of Buzios twon center. Everything was absolutely wonderful: location, breakfast, the room, the extra activities (yoga and meditation!) and the great staff. This was an amazing experience and I can't wait to go back to Praia das Caravelas.
