WE DID NOT BOOK DINNER IN ADVANCE, BUT CHANGED OUR MIND AND WE WERE VERY SATISFIED WITH THE FOOD AND THE NEXT MORNING WITH BREAKFAST. WE WILL NEVER FORGET EVENING SITTING BY THE OPEN FIREPLACE WITH BIRCH LOG BURNING.

Nestled against the banks of the River Barrow and surrounded by luscious green grounds, the 4-star Woodford Dolmen Hotel Carlow is located just outside Carlow. Lovely comfortable, modern and clean room. Night porter was lovely when I checked in late.

Atmosphere was pleasant. Staff were friendly and helpful. Large deep bath with fast running hot water was a real luxury.

In the centre of Carlow town, Dinn Ri Hotel features boutique rooms, an on-site nightclub and live band venue, and an outdoor terraced bar. The stylish sports bar includes three 48-inch plasma TVs. The location was very good, the room was how I expected it to be, the staff was very friendly and the breakfast was very good.

Within 200 acres of beautiful countryside, this luxurious hotel and spa boasts an 18-hole championship golf course and a 20-metre swimming pool. I was hopeful but cautious because I'd read very mixed reviews before we went. But honestly our three nights were absolutely fantastic, the perfect rest. I can't wait to go back. The food was exceptionally well cooked with a good range of choices. The staff (especially in the dining room) could not have been more friendly, professional and personable. It went beyond what I had hoped for and I have bookmarked Mount Wolsley as a perfect getaway and retreat.

In the Heritage Village of Leighlinbridge, just 10 minutes from Carlow and 20 minutes from Kilkenny off the N9, the Lord Bagenal has been renowned for award-winning food and wine. The breakfast was great. All the food was fresh and well prepared. There was an issue with Booking.com not forwarding our prepayment to the hotel. When this was brought to the attention of reception, it was promptly investigated and resolved to my full satisfaction. A great staff at reception.

With a traditional Irish pub setting and a modern bar, Ewings is located in the heart of Carlow Town, right beside the Town Hall. It offers free Wi-Fi throughout the property. The owner was a very kind man who took the time to show me how to open the lock. He allowed me to enter my room early.
