The beautiful 'pods', the wonderful gardens, the outstanding facilities (kitchen, lounge, reading room, washrooms etc), the terrific breakfast (mostly home-produced food) and the warmth of Mary's welcome. The location is so peaceful - deep quiet! Superb.

Nestled against the banks of the River Barrow and surrounded by luscious green grounds, the 4-star Woodford Dolmen Hotel Carlow is located just outside Carlow. Everything. Because of Storm Bert delaying the Ferry from Holyhead we were late, arriving at 9.35pm. The staff provided a meal for us even though the restaurant stopped serving customers at 9.00pm. We could not find fault with any aspect of the hotel. Facilities were great as were the staff. We were at the hotel for three nights and do not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anybody and will stay here on our next trip to Ireland !

In the centre of Carlow town, Dinn Ri Hotel features boutique rooms, an on-site nightclub and live band venue, and an outdoor terraced bar. The stylish sports bar includes three 48-inch plasma TVs. Loved our stay here and would recommend it to anyone. I'm sorry I didn't get the girl on receptions name, but she was so nice and helpful, and made us feel at home from the get go. The cocktails in the bar are amazing, my partner likes an Old Fashioned cocktail, and even tho I don't think it was on the menu, the lovely lad with the tattoos made him one, and it was one of the best ones he had in a long time. Overall 10/10 for the stay.

In the Heritage Village of Leighlinbridge, just 10 minutes from Carlow and 20 minutes from Kilkenny off the N9, the Lord Bagenal has been renowned for award-winning food and wine. The breakfast was great. All the food was fresh and well prepared. There was an issue with Booking.com not forwarding our prepayment to the hotel. When this was brought to the attention of reception, it was promptly investigated and resolved to my full satisfaction. A great staff at reception.

With a traditional Irish pub setting and a modern bar, Ewings is located in the heart of Carlow Town, right beside the Town Hall. It offers free Wi-Fi throughout the property. The location and the atmosphere. The pub attached was a great place to have a drink and meet some nice locals! Everyone was really friendly and when in the rooms you couldn’t hear any noise from the pub. Would stay here again!
