The room was great, quite a typical ryokan room but it also had a bath in the room which is not something you find everywhere. The location was perfect, just a short walk from the station which was important because we had quite a bit of luggage, and one of the main reasons I picked it. It was also a convenient walk to the rest of the town and the morning market. The staff were friendly and helped us with the evening meals around at nearby restaurants. We also enjoyed the hotel breakfast on our last day which for us was a local selection that includes their famous hida beef. It was quite a big breakfast and very delicious.

Staff was exceptionally kind and understanding despite our limited language skills. The outdoor onsen was very comfortable, and the room was wonderful to stay in.

Guest House & Cafe SOY ligger i frodige grønne omgivelser, 15 minutters bustur fra JR Takayama Station. Der tilbydes gratis WiFi og gratis privat parkering på selve ejendommen. It was one of our best accomodation ever. The place was cozy, clean and very beautifully decorated. It really has a ryokan spirit, but recently renovated. The attention of Tai and his family was overwhelming, taking us and picking us up to and from downtown Takayama, giving us recommendations.. they even had a nice detail to prepare us a cake to celebrate our honeymoon. The japanese breakfast that they prepared for us was amazing.

Auberge Hidanomori blev genåbnet efter renovering i 2022. Det ligger i rolige bakker, 10 minutters kørsel fra JR Takayama Station. Everything was extraordinarily well handled. Dinner and breakfast were phenomenal. The staff was extremely friendly and spoke good english. There is an impressive wine collection and a very knowlegeable owner to cater to your tastes during dinner. The surrounding area is very calm and close to the forest for some serene walking in the morning. Probably the best place i have stayed in my month of traveling in Japan.

Sumiyoshi Ryokan ligger kun 1 minuts gang fra det populære Miyagawa Morning Market i hjertet af Takayama. Det er indrettet i hjemlig japansk stil i det historiske byhus. Beautiful rooms that really give you the feeling of being in Japan, very nice owners, I loved how they served a pot of matcha tea on arrival. They put a lot of love into this place and it really shows. The location is very good as well, close to the old neighbourhood and the morning market. Definitely the best stay we had in Japan, if not ever.

Located on a hill and overlooking the famous Gero hot-spring area, Yunoshimakan, founded in 1931, offers large public indoor hot spring baths and open-air hot spring baths. I love the traditional room, the futon was so comfortable. The view was amazing! My entire stay was so comfortable. The public bath onsen was amazing. The staff were great too! I left my jacket upon check-out, upon calling them they were able to give it back to me in Gero station. Shuttle service is so convenient. The shoes clerk was very attentive, he was very nice. I love my entire stay. You basically pay for history and view, I would say it is worth it. Stay at least 2 nights!

Yamazatonoiori Soene ligger i et smukt landskab i Okuhida Onsengo-området med varme kilder og tilbyder smukke værelser i japansk stil med udsigt over floden eller haven. What can we say! Everything was amazing. The onsens were fabulous - public men's and women's both inside and open air, and 2 private onsens. It was great to wear the yakatas, robes, and soeme. The dinner and breakfast were delicious. So many amazing little dishes. More food than we could eat. The rooms were toasty warm and well appointed. The staff were all so lovely and friendly. Highly recommended for a relaxing and unique experience.
