Our rooms are designed with traditional Japanese aesthetics, featuring tatami mat flooring throughout. For those who prefer a futon on tatami or a bed, we also offer Japanese-Western style rooms. The warm ambiance is further enhanced by local artists' paintings adorning the walls. We went as a group and we loved the ryokan. It was very spacious, everything was very clean, and it was conveniently located near the bus station, the train station, and the city center where most of the shopping takes place. The rooms were the most spacious we stayed in throughout Japan, and the staff were all very kind. I would definitely stay here again.

The Japanese breakfast is excellent. We were there for 4 nights, and we got four different breakfasts every morning

Such a great experience of great food and great atmosphere in the middle of the woods but still close to the bus stop. The private hot spring is amazing! Such a relaxing and fulfilling atmosphere.

Walking distance from the town and there is on site parking. Large, clean rooms. Ample meals. Both an indoor and outdoor public bath. Right next to a flowing river. Very pleasant staff.

The property also provides free pick-up service from JR Takayama Station. Free shuttle bus service is available when check-in, check-out, after dinner. Tai is super friendly to every guest. He was always willing to carry us from the train station which was very helpful for us. Also, his family is gorgeous. Every morning we were enjoying the hand made food from his mom. Besides, you can meet new friends all around the world here. In conclusion, this palce is definitely worth to stay.

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. The property offers free WiFi access in rooms and in public areas including the shared TV lounge and the terrace. The staff is so kind and the place is very serene. We had a good resting time in the very comfortable beds and enjoyed the bath and all the delicious food.

Located just a 1-minute walk from popular Miyagawa Morning Market in the heart of Takayama, Sumiyoshi Ryokan offers homely Japanese-style accommodation in the historic townhouse building. Free WiFi is available at the lobby and guestrooms. This hotel was selected as one of the Top 25 B&Bs and Inns in Japan by TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Award 2015.

Rooms are fitted with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and traditional futon bedding. A low table and a TV with satellite channels are provided. Guests can relax in the room with free green tea. It feels like home, away from home. The breakfast was amazing. The place is very cozy with the warm smile of the people running the place. They have a nice private bath which is a good experience to try. The location is near the morning market and Miyagawa river. Everything is fantastic!

Guests can relax at the traditional garden and enjoy night views of the city from the observatory. A billiard table and table tennis facilities are available for guests to spend their time. Local products can be purchased at the souvenir shop. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. In room onsen was great. Great dinner even without reservation so we could enjoyed the relax. Big rooms very clean.

A 3-minute drive from JR Gero Train Station, Izumi-so offers Japanese-style rooms, an indoor and an open-air natural hot spring bath and Japanese cuisine. The hotel houses a souvenir shop and drinks vending machines. Free parking is available, and a free pick-up can be requested from the station. My husband and I had an incredible experience at Izumi-So. Facilities were clean, owners were welcoming and incredibly friendly and hospitable. Highly recommend !

Set amid a beautiful landscape in Okuhida Onsengo hot-spring area, Yamazatonoiori Soene offers beautiful rooms in a Japanese style with river or garden views. The property is 80-munite bus ride from JR Takayama Station, and Fukuchi Yurimizaka (HO41) bus stop is a 3-minute walk away.

Guests can relax in the indoor and outdoor baths with its natural hot spring water. Kashikiri (private baths) are also available and can be reserved for free. There are 3 private onsens with an indoor and outdoor area, as well as 4 shared onsens, 2 for men and 2 for women. All of them are wonderful. The rooms are also spacious and clean. The highlight was definitely the excellent dinner. The area of Hirayu Onsen is out of the way, but well worth the trip if you want to get out of the city for a bit.
