Built in 1913, the Kusatsu Hotel exhibits the architectural style of the Japanese Taisho Era. Guests at the hotel can unwind in the indoor or outdoor public hot spring bath, a Private Hot spring or the soothing footbath. Value for money! Staffs are very much accommodating specially Jericho. Hotel is more than 100 years old but it doesn’t feel like one. So happy we booked this for our very first onsen/ryokan experience.

Rooms feature a serene Japanese interior with a tatami (woven-straw) floor, a TV and shoji sliding screens, which open to a relaxing seating area. Guests sleep in comfortable futon bedding, while amenities include yukata robes, a washstand and an attached toilet. Bathroom facilities are shared. It felt like a dream, beautiful location, the leaves were red, amazing onsens, traditional room with a delicious kaiseki dinner. Wish I never left!

Terminal bus is really near but with the snow, the shuttle is really handy. Breakfast and dinner are amazing. Love everything. The onsen/ spring water was delicious, and what I was looking for, there was one open and you could see trees with snow! ⛄️
