Ryokan Asunaro: A Traditional Japanese Inn in Takayama.

Our rooms are designed with traditional Japanese aesthetics, featuring tatami mat flooring throughout. For those who prefer a futon on tatami or a bed, we also offer Japanese-Western style rooms. The warm ambiance is further enhanced by local artists' paintings adorning the walls. All!! The food, the facilities, the friendly staff!

Just a 2-minute walk from Takayama Station, Oyado Koto No Yume offers Japanese-style rooms with a colourful touch. The hotel features hot-spring baths, a restaurant serving breakfast and free WiFi throughout the property. This ryokan is introduced in Michelin Green Guide Japan. It's really hard to express how superb this stay was. And it was only 1 day. I imagine this is thanks to type of the place, not being typical hotel, but rather traditional ryokan with it's quality. From the beginning, the staff was excellent. Helpful, informative, easy to talk to. The room, comparing to our other hotels, was huge. Sleeping on futon was our best sleeping experience during whole stay in Japan. We have booked private bath, and again - everything well prepared, all important things available in the room. We were provided also with yukatas to be used in ryokan, but in addition we could also use more colorful that could be used outside. Hotel is 5 minutes walk from main station and on the way to old town of Takayama. The last but not least - breakfast was the best we had in Japan. We have chosen Japanese one and we could try many elements.

Guests can relax at the communal hot spring bath or the private hot-spring bath free of charge. You can cook in the fully equipped kitchen or read at the mini library. Free Wi-Fi is provided at the lounge. Beautiful building, big comfortable room with river view and lots of closet space for suitcases. Loved the onsen and lounge area downstairs. Also nice that they had a very well equipped kitchen although we didn’t use it

There is a coffee shop, and a minimarket is also available. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in.

Each room at this ryokan is air conditioned and comes with a flat-screen TV. Some rooms include a seating area where you can relax. You will find a kettle in the room. Rooms include a private bathroom with a bath and shower, with slippers, free toiletries and a hair dryer provided. Beautiful place, nice staff, hidden gems with great onsen, great food... The room with bath included is so beautiful and spacious with view on fresh river... everything was perfect, I lived in Japan and felt like i was living a true experience far from classic tourism

Free shuttle bus service is available when check-in, check-out, after dinner. not many accommodations are rated so highly -- 9.8, as i write -- but this VERY exceptional ryokan certainly deserves at least that! it's beautifully & aesthetically maintained, with carefully selected artifacts throughout & comfort at a premium. tai is super sweet, truly cares about making your stay as pleasant as possible & is certainly worthy of all the praise reviewers have heaped upon him. our breakfast, wholeheartedly prepared by his very nice & caring mother, was abundant & absolutely delicious. we stayed in the spacious "maisonette" room, which is actually on 2 floors (connected by an internal staircase) & seems ideal for 3 people ... which, in our case, was a couple & their adult child. thanks to tai's kind cinematographer father, the top floor space had an excellent "old-school" audio-visual setup: with a good sound system & assortment of movie videos that u can project on to a large-sized screen .. which we enjoyed while kicking-back after an excellent dinner in "downtown" takayama. in short, we thoroughly enjoyed "soy" & highly recommend it!
