What we liked most about the place was the location and the owners. Perera, the owner and his wife are the sweetest people, they cook really amazing food. They served us a lot (i think there were about 7 types) of homemade curries (my favourite was the jackfruit curry). The rooms were very big and the beds really comfy. The bathroom is basic but has the basics covered, we had hot water all the time although, to be fair, we didn t really need it. The place was very very clean. I would absolutely recommend it

Uppila the owner/host picked us up from the bus stop and he made our stay really enjoyable. Making connections with his family was a highlight. His wife cooked delicious Sri Lankan meals for us both breakfast and dinner, and catered to my friend's coconut allergy. We nearly didn't book this place because it was so cheap and we thought it might be substandard, however I can say it was just delightful, large basic room with mosquito net (no mossies in my room), a large big verandah looking out onto the garden. Uppila took us on a free guided night walk around his property to look for wildlife. Uppila booked our Ayurvedic massages, drove us there and waited. He organised a tuk tuk to the ruins. He was always up for a chat and we felt cared for. He was just so kind and friendly and open and honest. I feel privileged to have met him and his family. Stay here, you will love it!

Tishan Holiday Resort is located in Bendiwewa in the region of Polonnaruwa. The archaeological area is 3.5 km away from Tishan Hotel. Hotel features a year-round outdoor pool and sun terrace. The staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to make sure I had a good stay. Unfortunately, it rained the afternoon I was there so didn’t get to enjoy the pool, but it looked great and well kept.

The owner was fantastic. He had no problem arranging an elephant tour for us. He lent us bikes. When I got a flat tire, he brought another one so I could continue my ride. It was easy to arrange dinner and breakfast with him. The owner also arranged transportation from the bus to their place and back to the bus. He knew where it was good to have laundry done. I definitely recommend it.

The rooms were spacious enough for our budget, very clean, and well-maintained. They also served us delicious food exactly as we requested, and always on time. The owner was extremely helpful and welcoming, which made our stay even more pleasant. The garden area was perfect for our kids to play and enjoy safely. The dining area was also very convenient—fully equipped with plates, glasses, spoons, a burner, microwave, fridge, and everything we needed to prepare or enjoy meals comfortably. Another big plus is the location—very close to the main attractions in Polonnaruwa like Gal Viharaya and Rankoth Vehera. Overall, we’re really happy with our stay and can confidently say that Livinginn Polonnaruwa is truly value for money. Highly recommended!
