Set in tranquil surroundings with large landscaped grounds and a picturesque garden terrace with mountain views, Tongariro Crossing Lodge offers uniquely spacious rooms with historic character. A garden is featured. Tongariro Crossing Lodge was a great place to stay for our family (parents, 2 adult daughters). Our main purpose was to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing the next day. However, after consulting with Louis (owner) and looking at the predicted cloud cover, we opted to delay the hike an extra day Louis kindly suggested alternative shorter hikes/activities near by, which were very enjoyable. Louis had also reserved spots for us on the shuttle (to/from hike) but upon our arrival and discussion, we decided to drive ourselves to the carpark which ended up being a good idea since the day we hiked was extremely cloudy, not clearing up until about 1pm. Driving ourselves allowed us to be flexible and enjoy the stunning views for another hour instead of rushing back to make the 5:30pm shuttle. In addition to the room (ours was newly renovated), you could also pay for a continental breakfast and sack lunch which Louis brought to our room the night before the hike. Very convenient and yummy!! Lodge was also within walking distance of restaurants (two that we ate at had great views of mountains, sunset) and small store. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay - perfect for us :). Louis was also very responsive prior to our trip, answering my many questions.

Free Wi-Fi access is available throughout the house. Beautiful view out the window facing the park. Located on a quiet street. Parking was around the side, getting the key from the lockbox was no issue.

Plateau Lodge is located 15 minutes’ drive from UNESCO World Heritage listed Tongariro National Park, where guests can enjoy skiing, hiking, cycling and paddling activities. A daily, shuttle service is available hourly from 6:00 until 9:00 to the Tongariro Crossing & National park. Free parking is available. Just stayed for one night ahead of doing the Tongariro crossing but everything was great. Easy check in out of hours, spacious apartment which was well equipped and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again :)

Just a 3-minute drive from the heart of Ohakune, guests enjoy a sauna and a spa and wellness centre at The Peaks Motor Inn. All rooms feature a fully equipped kitchen and a terrace with mountain views. There was laundry facility on site; the hosts were super nice; the location was QUIET! A great overnight and close to the super cute town without being right in the middle of town. :)

It is very nice hotel and staff are friendly

A range of accommodation is on offer including studios, apartments and bungalows. Loved the location of the unit, close to a stream and lots of trees. The staff were very helpful and the facilities clean and well maintained.

After a day of hiking, skiing or cycling, guests can relax in the garden or in the shared lounge area. Beautiful view of Mt Ruapehu! Really lovely 2 bedroom chalet. Very clean with a good size kitchen.

Great communication with a email of instructions to get into the room. Very clean and tidy .Was fantastic having electric blankets . Very easy 3 min walk to local pub and absolutely delicious Indian takeaways and bottle store .No road noise . This is my 2nd stay here will most definitely be back .
