Set in tranquil surroundings with large landscaped grounds and a picturesque garden terrace with mountain views, Tongariro Crossing Lodge offers uniquely spacious rooms with historic character. Tongariro Crossing Lodge was a great place to stay for our family (parents, 2 adult daughters). Our main purpose was to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing the next day. However, after consulting with Louis (owner) and looking at the predicted cloud cover, we opted to delay the hike an extra day Louis kindly suggested alternative shorter hikes/activities near by, which were very enjoyable. Louis had also reserved spots for us on the shuttle (to/from hike) but upon our arrival and discussion, we decided to drive ourselves to the carpark which ended up being a good idea since the day we hiked was extremely cloudy, not clearing up until about 1pm. Driving ourselves allowed us to be flexible and enjoy the stunning views for another hour instead of rushing back to make the 5:30pm shuttle. In addition to the room (ours was newly renovated), you could also pay for a continental breakfast and sack lunch which Louis brought to our room the night before the hike. Very convenient and yummy!! Lodge was also within walking distance of restaurants (two that we ate at had great views of mountains, sunset) and small store. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay - perfect for us :). Louis was also very responsive prior to our trip, answering my many questions.

Featuring panoramic views of Tongariro National Park from floor-to-ceiling windows, Parkview Apartments offers a modern, self-catering holiday home with a fully-equipped kitchen. Beautiful view out the window facing the park. Located on a quiet street. Parking was around the side, getting the key from the lockbox was no issue.

Plateau Lodge is located 15 minutes’ drive from UNESCO World Heritage listed Tongariro National Park, where guests can enjoy skiing, hiking, cycling and paddling activities. Just stayed for one night ahead of doing the Tongariro crossing but everything was great. Easy check in out of hours, spacious apartment which was well equipped and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again :)

Just a 3-minute drive from the heart of Ohakune, guests enjoy a sauna and a spa and wellness centre at The Peaks Motor Inn. All rooms feature a fully equipped kitchen and a terrace with mountain... There was laundry facility on site; the hosts were super nice; the location was QUIET! A great overnight and close to the super cute town without being right in the middle of town. :)

The Powderhorn Chateau is situated in Ohakune, at the entrance to Tongariro National Park. It is very nice hotel and staff are friendly

Boasting a hot tub, games room and BBQ facilities, Ohakune TOP 10 Holiday Park is just a 4-minute walk from the heart of Ohakune. Loved the location of the unit, close to a stream and lots of trees. The staff were very helpful and the facilities clean and well maintained.

Snowhaven offers a range of accommodation in Ohakune, at the base of the mountain at Turoa Skifield. All accommodation includes an LCD TV with cable channels and a DVD player. Great communication with a email of instructions to get into the room. Very clean and tidy .Was fantastic having electric blankets . Very easy 3 min walk to local pub and absolutely delicious Indian takeaways and bottle store .No road noise . This is my 2nd stay here will most definitely be back .
