Excellent location near Kyoto rail station and lots of shops. APA is a national chain with a model of budget self service with lots of amenities provided but with relatively little room staff (e.g. bags full of new towels etc delivered to your door daily but not brought in - though a full clean is done every fourth day). So 4 star amenities in 2 star room. Hence the good value. Front desk staff very helpful and friendly.
Simply stunning. Lovely to stay in a ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn. Our lady was exceptional, giving first class treatment in talking us through many dishes she served, constantly topping our water, cleaning our teapot. V filling so be warned and you get to try things you wouldn’t get these days or in chain hotels. The onsen was a relief from the long journey. The futons v comfy. It was so unique to switch off, enjoy tranquility.
The place is compact and has everything you need - we used the kitchen to cook our breakfast and the washer to wash our clothes. Everything is super clean and the Japanese tatami room. Futons are comfortable to sleep. There is air conditioning on both floors. The location is perfect not far from Kyoto station and steps away from Aeon mall with a few good chain restaurants but also there are some good small independent restaurants in the neighborhood. The staff replied fast to hour inquiries.
Very good value for money; clean Japanese style rooms (small but bigger than typical Japanese rooms) close to Kyoto Station. Self check-in/out; but very responsive when questions are sent via the application. We forgot an item in the room and realised on our way after check-out; the hotel sent us the items at our next hotel very quickly and kept us informed of progresses. Ideal for budget travellers
japanese ryokan/tatami experience on a budget! great value for the experience. The guy who managed the accommodation and apparently also lives below is very helpful.
This is my second time with the hotel chain and it definitely didnt disappoint. I was travelling with a pre-teen and teenager, and they were stoked with the onsen, free ramen for supper, and complimentary ice cream. The family room was spacious, with an additional TV lounge area where we could sit and enjoy. The breakfast spread was amazing! There was local japanese selection and international spread as well. The food assortment and layout suited the number of occupants at the hotel. I would definitely stay in the hotel again.
Location was central to Kyoto station and rooms felt modern and good quality. Bathroom was also very nice compared to budget Japanese hotels.
A good budget option for a stay in a great area of Kyoto. Quite large by Japanese standards, and very comfortable. We stay here often as it suits all our needs. Washing machine is a bonus, plenty of great restaurants around.
If you want to feel the vibe of traditional Japanese house, budget option, do come here. It felt like home cos the owner really try to have conversation with you and asking about you. She even offer free bike for 3 hours to go around. Superb, breakfast also my favourite, Papa even offer teh tarik the last day. Kyoto is the highlight of my trip in Japan and I would like to go to Kyoto again just to stay here!!!!
