Incredible stay at Busuitei! The hosts were very hospitable and helped us enjoy every moment of our stay. It only took us 8 minutes to get to the hotel from the railway station. This ryokan is a 150 year old building located in a very picturesque part of Hida Furukawa. Our room had an amazing view to the Japanese garden, river, shrine and Hida mountains. We also loved the family bath and enjoyed an exquisite dinner with Hida beef, medical herbs and different types of miso. Breakfast was served by a very nice lady in a separate room with a lovely view. It’s definitely 10/10 for me. Thank you, Busuitei.

We had a wonderful stay at Ryokan Asunaro The beautiful surroundings and authentic Japanese experience will stay with us forever. The welcoming feeling at all times, the beautifully appointed rooms with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The dining experience both at the Kaiseki dinner and the Japanese breakfast each morning was incredible. We have never experienced anything like it before.

This ryokan is just so good! The staff here is SO kind and helpfull and respectfull even for japanese standards. The breakfast is so delicious and large you will be full untill dinner. You can choose between multiple options each day. Public bath is very clean and spacious. Rooms are tidy, clean and offer all ammenities. You get delicious takayama water every evening in your room and also some japanese snacks. Once again, the staff made our stay so pleasant and memorable. We also got little presents at checkout from amazing front desk lady. Next time we visit Takayama, we have already decided where we will stay!

The service was excellent! From the front desk staff to the hotel staff (especially the girl who set up our dinner, she had glasses and a ponytail), everyone was so kind and helpful, you could feel all the love they put in the guests service! Also the dinner/breakfast was absolutely delicious! One of the best we had in Japan so far! And the onsen too! So happy we could experience them in the beautiful ryokan! We'll be back for sure! Thank you❤️

This hostel was a very nice stop on our Japan trip and we felt very welcomed by the team. The place is simple but offers everything you need. We definitely enjoyed the heated blankets on this cold season. Both our kids loved the place too!

A beautiful ryokan with the most incredible private onsens in the rooms. We had the mountain view room, which meant we could open our window from the spring bath and look out over the temple and mountains. The staff were so kind, they made it a wonderful experience. Although in a relatively rural setting, the hotel is only a 5 min walk to the train station.

If you are looking for a traditional ryokan experience, then Yatsusankan is the place for you. We particularly enjoyed the food and the onsen. The staff was able to assist us in English whenever we needed them, which positively surprised us in a remote town such as Hida.

A really special experience at this ryokan in Hida Takayama. We stayed in the suite with our own private onsen bath. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. We loved the kaiseki (traditional multi-course Japanese dinner) and breakfast.

We are from Taiwan, and this is an excellent traditional Japanese inn. I am very satisfied with the service, the guest rooms, and the hot springs. I suggest ordering sake during dinner and trying the famous Hōrai and Shirayumi sake, which are local specialties. Additionally, I recommend making a reservation in advance for a private hot spring bath. It offers a fantastic bathing experience, and it's very relaxing to have a glass of milk after soaking in the hot spring. Thank you for providing us with such a wonderful experience.

This is a typical Ryokan. We had a little onsen in our room. Great views of the shrine, river and mountains. Very friendly staff that really creates a customer experience. Meals are included so you will be served the traditional kaseiki in your own private dining room. The rooms are recently renovated.

It was an unforgettable ryokan experience. We ended up staying in both the Mountain View room and the Premium Suite. The PS was huge! It was beautiful, but older. The private onset was wonderful. I think I preferred the MV room though. It was newer and every detail was perfect. The people were wonderful. The food was incredible. Some things were a little challenging (the tiny firefly squid comes to mind), but I expected that. I met the nicest Japanese mother and daughter in the onsen, an experience I won't forget.

The welcome we received upon arrival was lovely. The ryokan feels very authentic with little hallways going off in all directions! We travelled through Japan for two weeks and this place had my favourite Onsen. To sit outside in the Onsen while it was snowing was magical. The breakfast was of course very Japanese and very abundant. We were never able to eat it all.
