I loved the quiet mountain location. The meals were buffet-style and quite enjoyable. I loved the open-air onsen and didn't even try the public bath inside of the hotel. The staff was very friendly, and I could get by with no Japanese.

Nice onsen with good views across to Mt Asama, excellent Japanese style breakfast and dinner, Japanese style gardens. Friendly staff. Very good value for money. Spacious rooms.

I am shocked and appalled at how dirty the rooms were. You can fully expect $5/night guesthouses in Cambodia to be cleaner. Fungus all over the walls, whole room and corridor stinks, stains of who knows what on walls and ceiling. The only comment I got from staff was "Oh well, it's a 30 years old building, what you expect". I expect that room should be cleaned as needed.

The rooms were amazing, very minimalistic and beautifully arranged. Staff were extremely helpful.

The location was only accessible by car, but because of this, it was private and surrounded by nature. The owner even showed me a starry sky at night.

We enjoyed walks around the property and a paved mountain path. I loved the artwork hung in the hallways. The staff were nice. We had the onsen baths mostly to ourselves because of low occupancy. A young lady I met said this place was popular among college students who want to enjoy the baths. I was hoping for a better quality lodgings.
