We slept with the windows open for cool air, listening to the river. The staff were friendly and helpful, a really wonderful owner. We loved being greeted by a kitty and watching them enjoy the property! We enjoyed the private onsen. The rooms were big and comfortable, traditional Ryokan style. The hotel is clean, and they sell food for a reasonable price; considering how hard it is to find combines around, this is very convenient. The ryokan was cosy , but what stood out was the little touches that made us feel welcome , eg the complementary coffee, tea and snacks at the lobby, the comfortable seating next to the waterfall view , and the company of the ryokan pets (friendly dogs and cats). Staff are very friendly and provide excellent customer service, even though our children were not the quietest of guests. The kotatsu in the room was perfect for a winter stay in the mountains.
