It's a wonderfully charming hotel in the middle of apparent nowhere - i.e. precisely what we were searching for. It isn't really nowhere as there's a ton of historical and natural features nearby but it is still far from the hustle and bustle. It's very peaceful. The staff were very nice and helpful without being overbearing. We were picked up at the station (Sakurai) and after our stay we were shuttled back there. The staff has varying levels of English but it didn't hinder our stay at the slightest - communication was great and they even made to sure to translate some handouts for meals into our native Polish which was a charming gesture. The meals themselves were delicious (caution: the wonderful multi-course dinner has to be ordered in advance!) and served very nicely. Yes, they are pricey but it reflects their quality. The rooms were traditional, with tatami etc and a great view on the temple on the mountainside opposite the hotel. There's also a hot bath and we loved it. If we ever get the possibility of coming back to Japan, we would love to revisit this hotel.

We stayed at this cozy ryokan and had a very nice time. Delicious dinner and breakfast and also very nice and helpful people. Enjoyed the onsen and also went to the temple for the morning ceremony.

Kotono yado Musashino offers accommodation in Nara, and is located a 11-minute drive from Nara Station on the Kintetsu Nara Line.

AMAZING !!! we had a lovely night in this ryokan, the staff was so nice with us, the room is beautiful, the dinner was very good and the breakfast in the park was wonderful !!!!

Wakasa Annex features an outdoor hot public bath and free WiFi. Other facilities include a 24-hour reception, drinks vending machines and free parking. Todai-ji Temple is only an 8-minute walk.

Lovely owner, beautiful part of Nara and a wonderful Japanese breakfast!

The accommodation facility of Gyokuzoin Temple features a hot public bath. The hotel is located in Mount Shigisan and houses a souvenir shop and drinks vending machines.

Loved the whole experience. We booked a traditional room and slept in futon beds. Since our arrival we were spoiled with refreshing drinks and high quality treatment. Everyone among the staff speaks English and they were happy to explain any details about the room, the onsen baths and the traditional meals. We reserved both dinner and breakfast and we were absolutely pleased with both!

The hotel was wonderful and the staff were amazing. The room had two twin beds but also a Japanese style sitting area, which we loved. Our room included dinner on two nights and they were the best meals we had. They were one of the highlights of our stay in Japan. The hotel is very close to the train station and the park. The perfect location.

Tsukihitei is located in the Kasugayama Primeval Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Perfect location. Perfect hospitality. Perfect food. Perfect room. Hands down, this was the best stay we've had in any form of hotel or ryokan. Nara is an amazing place to visit, and Tsukihitei is THE place to stay in. Hidden in the most beautiful forest, just a short walk away from everything you want to see in Nara. The Roykan itself is built like fusion between zen garden and a Japanese palace.
