Firstly, the staffs. We felt so welcomed right from arrival. Their English isn't perfect (mine isn't, either) but there were very polite and attentive, always smiling too! The room was amazing! Totally as shown in the photos (minus one chair, which was a bit disappointing), and more! Spacious, homely, traditional, and the view was unforgettable! We spent hours looking outside. The food was the highlight for us. We booked half-board with dinner and breakfast, all 4 meals were sooo GOOD!! They also changed it every time so the longer you stay, the more you get to try! Do note that the 'arrival and departure' taxis to and from Yufuin station are covered by the hotel.

Ryokan Fukinoya is an exceptionally wonderful place to stay. The staff members were very gracious, the meals were amazing, and the accommodations were beautiful and comfortable. We loved our private onsen. We can't rave enough about Ryokan Fukinoya, definitely a highlight of our trip!

The breakfast was incredible. Simply made but full of local flavours. The host lady was very kind and welcoming. She made my bed while I was using the bath. Communication in english/Japanese was easy.

I recently had an unforgettable stay at this wonderful hot spring resort, and I can’t recommend it enough! Amazing ryokan in Yufuin! A great combination of traditional architecture and modern comfort. Owners were a very nice and helpful couple. They had resources prepared in english to facilitate a smooth check-in and guidance for the stay. There's a wide selection of yukatas to choose from. Basic amenities (e.g., rain coats) can be bought at the reception if you need something. The ryokan has 3 private onsens, 2 indoor and 1 outdoor. We tested all and enjoyed them thoroughly. There is no reservation system; you just take a sign during bath times and put it on the door. Onsens are available in the morning and from afternoon until evening. We always had an opportunity to use them when we wanted to. The bento boxes for breakfast were amazing; they had a little bit of variation each day. They even got me special ones without fish. We arrived a bit early but the owners allowed us to check-in ahead of time. Additionally, bicycles are available free of charge which is great for exploring Yufuin. Bicycles are only available during check-in time; we didn't notice initially and asked in the morning once and the owner still obliged and gave us the keys. It felt impolite when we noticed but we were very grateful!
