Dinner and breakfast are amazing and plentiful, with locally sourced organic produce (even coffee!). Our room (Japanese room with private toilet) was to the left of the entrance. It was very spacious. The heater worked very well as autumn night was a bit damp and cold. The beds are futons on wood bed frames on tatami, and they are super comfortable. As I have a whole-leg tattoo which is usually not permitted in the public baths, I notified Ranko in advance, and she reserved the private bath for us. The private bath was a very beautiful blue ceramic bath filled with warm (I don’t think it’s very hot) healing hot spring water from the area. Ranko’s warm personality really made the stay memorable. Be sure to ask her for recommendations of the areas. She is a well of knowledge of the area!

The hot spring and room were very nice. Also the foods were amazing. I left my hat but They sent it quickly which was very nice too. Totally recommend !!

The room was clean, nice and spacious. The bathroom and the shower were clean. Hot and cold water was provided in the room for drinking. You can buy dinner downstairs, the owner couple will prepare it for you.

Located in the Asamushi Onsen district of Aomori, Kaisenkaku is 19 km from Sannai-Maruyama site and 2 km from Asamushi Aquarium. We like the Japanese style breakfast.

Located at the foot of Mount Hakkoda, Hotel Jogakura provides mountain resort accommodation boasting natural hot spring baths, saunas and gorgeous Japanese meals. 3rd time in Hakkoda and the previous 2 had been at the hotel close to the Ropeway. Jogakura is far superior and I would stay here again in a flash. We were upgraded from a twin to a superior twin on arrival. The buffet breakfast was amazing and the hotel guiding over the back with pick up was fantastic value.

Only a 2-minute walk from JR Aomori Train Station, Iroha Ryokan offers simple Japanese-style rooms with a flat-screen TV. It’s a 5 minutes walk from the main station to the small locally owned inn. The single room with the tatami mats has more than enough space for a solo traveller, and there is hot water provided every day along with light refreshments. The owner is also courteous and nice. Overall I love the homely atmosphere this accommodation has. They didn’t offer meal service but they were very happy to recommend great restaurants around.
