All units will provide guests with air conditioning, a safety deposit box and a flat-screen TV. My wife and a friend of ours spent the weekend at Kusatsu Hotel Bekkan Wata no Yu. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming. The room was cozy, and the onsen was wonderfully relaxing. One day, there was heavy snow, and we didn’t have proper footwear. Fortunately, the hotel provided us with snow boots, allowing us to explore the town comfortably. The staff’s hospitality truly made our stay an amazing experience.

Everything about it was perfect. Close to bus station, close to the yubatake and all downtown stuff, excellent food, comfiest comforter I’ve ever experienced, super friendly staff, and 4 readily available 24 hour private baths. Loved every second here, especially the private baths (I tried out two of them!).
Kusatsu

This 3-star ryokan offers luggage storage space and a housekeeping service. The accommodation provides private check-in and check-out and a shared lounge for guests. This hotel is close by Otaki no Yu, and reasonably walkable to the center of the village. The space was clearly remodeled recently and so the rooms are super nice, clean, and it's clear that the hotel has spent great attention to detail! I also really liked the ease of use of the onsen facilities. I have been to many japanese style inns and this was the most clean, orderly, and good working condition that I've encountered. I also thought it was nice that there are only 4 rooms here so it never felt busy or crowded. The staff were also all very kind and helpful. They made a great breakfast both days, with good variety of dishes and high quality of ingredients. I had a great stay and would definitely choose this hotel again!

This hotspring ryokan is absolutely beautiful, my room is clean, spacious and has great vibe of Japanese culture. The property has 3 different hotspring baths, including a private bath and an outdoor bath which allow you to enjoy the hot springs anyway you want. Both dinner and breakfast are included, the dinner is especially luxurious with a traditional Kaiseki course meal served with fresh seasonal ingredients. This place is also very convenient to access as it is close to the bus station. Overall, the experience was absolutely amazing, I highly recommend anyone to give it a try.
Minakami

As usual great dinner, this time in the tatami room and not the restaurant, made it even better. It doesn't feel crowded even though a lot of rooms were reserved. Onsen was perfect. A must stay in the Takasaki area.
Shuttle from train station. Friendly staff. Traditional experience. Provided with yukata, swimwear and slippers for stay. Food was beautiful. Onsen are exceptional. Scenery is unbelievable.
Everything was perfect, the food, the onsen, the rooms, the staff. A real traditional ryokan. Highly recommended
Me and my friends stayed at this lovely ryokan for one night. We enjoyed our spacious room and the private and public Onsen hot springs of the hotel. The hotel is located in a nice central spot which is great for exploring Kusatsu Onsen. The food and services were good.
It was a beautiful stay and our first experience at a ryokan. We were made to feel very special from the moment we arrived, until the time we checked out. The meals were lovely. Lots of interesting things to try for both dinner and breakfast and dressed in the provided yukatas. We loooooved our private onsen in our room and also tried two of the three private onsens on site which can be used by any guest pending availability. Beautiful views! The town is also lovely but be prepared for the sulfur smell from the hot springs!
Western style room was great! The tatami room had ample room for several futons, in addition to a couple beds outside the tatami room. Open concept with sliding doors was great for our group (6 people) so we can chat and hangout freely, and slide the doors shut at night for privacy. Breakfast was good. The outdoor onsen was really nice.
Kusatsu is a beautiful town, built around a hot spring. The hotel (ryokan) was located 2 blocks from the central area - well within easy walking distance. It was a perfect town and hotel for a 24-hour visit. Lots of stores and artisanal food in town. At the hotel, we enjoyed the public onsen as well as an hour in a private room. The kaiseki (multi-course) dinner was excellent as was the breakfast.
Liked the tatami style of the place! Looks newly refurbished and very clean. Facilities are complete but bear in mind there is no shower/bath facilities. We went for the Ohtaki No Yu Onsen and showered there, so this was not an isssue. Toilets are shared but this is not an issue too as there weren't many ppl staying at the ryokan. Parking is walkable, only 50metres away. Very value for money!!
