The breakfast was traditional Japanese, very healthy & plentiful. There were a few items I didn’t eat though my husband ate everything. Taz’s mother waitressed ( at the age of 87!) & was always smiling & helpful. 3 small onsens - enough for couples. My husband’s aches & pains disappeared after a dip. Easy walk to centre of town & lovely park. On a weekend both areas are lit up. The park is particularly beautiful.

All rooms have a private toilet and washbasin, while bathroom facilities are shared. Green tea sets with snacks are provided. Family onsen rooms are a pleasant surprise to us. It allowed us to shower and onsen as a family. The restaurant staff were all so friendly and kind, and they always prepared baby chair and baby bowl and utensils for our toddler. The location is convenient as there is a combini nearby for snacks - the hotel has its own shop too. The room was spacious, though unlike other Ryokans I've stayed at, the mattresses didn't get put away during the day - no biggie though as we didn't spend much time in the room during the day.

Nicely decorated in a traditional Japanese style the building and the bedroom are very cosy. The staff is very kind and always ready to help.

The couple running this place is very welcoming and the space is spotless. You are not in the centre, but a quaint local neighbourhood with an amazing bakery and 2 train stations are in an easy walking distance. They also organised for my suitcase to be transported to Kyoto for a set date, which was just amazing.
