Kurokawa Onsen, Minamioguni

Located in the centre of Kurokawa hot-spring area, it offers Japanese accommodations and free WiFi at the lobby. Free shuttle is available to/from Ogunimachi Yu Station and bus stop Kurokawa. We spent 3 nights at the Sotetsu Fresa Inn Nihonbashi Kayabacho hotel after arriving in Japan (There is another Fresa Inn in the area, so make sure this is where you have your reservation). It is a relatively modern, functional hotel sometimes referred to as a business hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very small as is typical in Tokyo but very clean and functional. The hotel is convenient to Tokyo station (20 minutes walking as a reference). After arriving on the Narita Express or by others means to Tokyo station, follow signs to the Tozai line (sky blue) subway. The easiest way to know which direction to go is to look at the numbers representing the stops. The Tokyo station stop at Otemachi is T-9 and you want to go to T-7 Kayabacho. Leave the Kayabacho subway station via Exit 7 and the hotel is just around the corner. From Kayabaco or the nearby Nihonbashi station, you can get all around Tokyo on the highly efficient subway system. Use a Suica, Welcome Suica or Pasmo card to enter and exit subways and avoid the hassle of figuring out which ticket to buy or how much they coat. Just tap and go. Enjoy. Kokura,Onsen EXPERIENCE JAPAN LIKE THE JAPANESE We decided to spend a couple of days in central Kyushu to enjoy a traditional Japanese ryokan experience. Boy, was that a great call! I88We stayed at the Yama no Yado Shinmeikan in the Kokura Onsen area, which is an hour north of Aso city by bus. The ryokan is 130 years old but is clean and well-maintained. It features a total of 5 unique onsens, including one carved into a cave. The ambiance is terrific and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The ryokan is located along a flowing river and the sound of running water adds to the relaxing quality of the stay. (The Fuji room is best). All accommodations are traditional Japanese tatami rooms which are made up for sleep each night by the staff as you enjoy the onsen baths.

It's an exceptional ryokan with very calm ambience. The staff is very friendly and helpful, offering a free ride to the bus stop. Onsen facilities are of high quality.
* excellent location, in a quiet part of the onsen town between a lot of trees * open-air baths were very spacious and opened up to a small river * indoor bath was easy to use * kaiseki menus were quite delicious even for western tastes * we liked the indoor decorations of the room and the tatami area was convenient, it didn’t extend to the whole room
Shinmeikan is a truly amazing ryokan/ onsen. The whole building just oozes authenticity. Great tatami style rooms overlooking the river, super friendly staff who will help you with all your needs. Great onsen baths, especially the cave bad is spectacular. Dinner and breakfast are equally high quality and display a variety of Japanese cuisine. Absolute perfect place if you want to experience traditional Japanese onsen style ryokan.
We had an unforgettable family stay at a traditional Ryokan in Japan. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, who made us feel right at home. The serene atmosphere of the Ryokan, with its beautiful tatami rooms , and peaceful environment, provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Our family enjoyed the delicious kaiseki meals served in Ryokan and loved relaxing in the private onsen. We highly recommend this Ryokan to families looking for a unique and authentic Japanese experience.
Clean, spacious room with comfortable futons, amenities and everything included. Private onsen hot enough, indoor and outdoor onsen was clean, big and free flowing. Small ryokan so it is quiet and intimate. Service was attentive.
The overall experience of staying in a ryokan with onsen, dinner and breakfast included and clothed on Japanese yukata give us taste of what it was like in a Japanese home. Upon our arrival, we were welcome with Japanese tea and dessert. It certainly sets the tone of our stay and warms our heart.
Super friendly and comfortable ryokan we stayed! I must say this is the ryokan have to stay in Aso! Although room without bathroom, but room comes with bigger space and basin and toilet! Our baby has so much fun to enjoy in tatami room, and also we enjoyed so many times in private onsen! Breakfast and dinner is delicious! I’d love to come back again!!
