The rooms are spacious, well equipped and traditional, while the amenities are modernised. The futon beds were surprisingly comfortable. The on-site onsen bath is very neat and tattoo friendly. Overall a very nice experience. The staff were very friendly, accomodating and very helpful.

Situated a 10-minute walk from lively Kawaramachi area, Kyomachiya Ryokan Sakura Urushitei offers Japanese-style accommodation with modern facilities and traditional design. It provides a tour desk and a bar on the ground floor. Free WiFi is available in all areas. Super nice staff that were helpful and greeted us! such a nice experience. I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Kyoto. The Location was also in a quiet neighboorhood, which wasn't too far away from attractions and stuff.

Seikoro Ryokan is located in Kyoto, a 7-minute drive from JR Kyoto Station. Featuring traditional Japanese-style accommodation, it offers a public bath and massage services. Free Wi-Fi access is available at the entire property. Amazing hospitality in a wonderful establishment. The staff does everything they can to make the stay unique, memorable, luxurious and comfortable. The public bath is nice and relaxing. The dinner and breakfast is unlike anything I would typically experience as a westerner. Kyoto can be very intense sometimes, and this establishment provided us with an escape when needed.

Some units in the ryokan have private entrance and are equipped with wardrobe and tatami. Units are complete with a private bathroom, while certain units at the ryokan also provide guests with a seating area. The interior and finish were amazing , the blend of Japanese and Scandinavian furnishings were so elegant. Staying at the traditional Japanese room gave us a true Japanese experience.

Ryokan Sumiya Kihoan offers a hot spring bath and a hot tub, as well as air-conditioned accommodation in Kameoka, 13 km from Oyamazumi Shrine. This 4-star ryokan offers a lift and free shuttle service. There is a restaurant serving Japanese cuisine, and free private parking is available. Worth every cent! What an experience! I wasn't sure at first (as I had the whole responsibility on me to decide for the group I was with) and if you're on a budget like we were, well this is a spend ..BUT..so happy I booked Ryokan Sumiya Kihon. As a tattooed group we had to rent private. It was hilarious to be butt naked with your best friends and ridiculously relaxing. The food is delicious. Breakfast= huge but Dinner = a little small for our crew. (Spanish/Australian mix). It's fine. Just bring snacks ;).

The ryokan serves a vegetarian and vegan breakfast and breakfast in the room is also available. What a great find this accomodation has been! After being initially slightly dissapointed we could not get a funaya accommodation, after our actual stay, all I can say is how lucky we were to have experienced the stay here instead. The room was so spaceous, and bright, with all the facilities we would have wanted. The kotatsu has been lovely! All the decoration and overall setting feels so cosy and warm. Exceptional breakfast, with many delicious choices. Lots of flavor and fresh, local ingredients. Loved the pickles and the atsuki dessert! Everything was spot on! Much more than we could have hoped. Wish we could have stayed more to enjoy the room facilities even better.

The hotel itself and our room were fantastic, we were very satisfied with our stay. The rooms are beautiful and spotlessly clean. The location is excellent, within walking distance to many places in the city center, and there is also a train station nearby. The hotel owners were incredibly kind, and they were very helpful upon our arrival and at our departure. We would be happy to stay here again on our next visit to Kyoto.
