Ise
Set near Futamiokitama Shrine and Matsushita Shrine, Oishiya is in Ise and offers free private parking and a restaurant. This 3-star ryokan offers a lift and luggage storage space. The ryokan has facilities for disabled guests. We LOVED the personalised service provided in traditional inns - especially by our caretaker and waitron Yasuyo Ohnishi! There can be no better location on the seashore within reach of Ise Temple Complex, located on Futiminoura Beach. They will pick you up and drop you off at the closest station and a 100m walk to the beautiful "wedded rocks (at Futamiokitama Shinto Shrine) is worth it even on a hot day! It was pouring rain when we arrived early so the driver dropped us off a beautifully restored old traditional mansion set in a tranquil zen garden to wait for reception to open at 3pm. We only realised later it's only 3 houses away from the hotel so easily accessible bonus for Oishiya's guests ! The meals (dinner and breakfast was included) was exceptional and extensive with more than 5 courses, each one beautifully arranged in trays and in stunning pottery, served by the lovely and ever helpful Yashyu Ohnishi in her immaculate kimono Dinner was attended in the Inn's provided kimono's which really added to the experience of Japanese culture we were looking for in a traditional Inn or Ryokan like this. The private Onsen (hot spring bath) was a great bonus for two shy westerners as was the slightly raised western beds in our beautiful tatami mat room with a view to the ocean and shoji screens (rather than curtains) to manage the light! It was by far the most pleasant and perfect stay in more than 30 years of travel internationally!

Featuring a private bathroom with a bidet and slippers, units at the ryokan also boast free WiFi, while certain rooms are equipped with a terrace. All units will provide guests with air conditioning, a safety deposit box and a TV. For our more than three-week trip around Japan, we booked most of the accommodation in advance. This was an exception, as we were not sure in advance where we would end up before departure. Although the outside looks like a classic concrete hotel like the tens of thousands in Japan, inside it was a cozy hotel offering everything. The room was large with a beautiful view of the bay. Lobby with drinks 24 hours a day and soup after 9 pm, both free. The hotel also has a beautiful large swimming pool with warm water open in the morning and evening. Men in particular will appreciate the view of the sea from the pool. The hotel is about 1.5 km from the station, but offers a free transfer to the hotel and the station. The staff was really very kind and professional. Definitely one of the best accommodations we had during our long trip. I must not forget the truly extraordinary breakfasts served in classic Japanese style. Booking usually says "fantastic" breakfast included in the price of accommodation. Sometimes the breakfasts are good, sometimes not, and the price does not say anything about them. We had almost all accommodation with breakfast here in Japan, and the breakfast in this hotel was truly fantastic. We were very pleasantly surprised by Toba, especially the aquarium, the pearl island and the sea ride. If we could, we would have stayed more than two full days.
Toba

To start off, if you arrive at Toba Train Station between 1430-1800, they provide free shuttle service to the hotel, which otherwise would be a 20 minute walk. Look for their name beside their car. The staff were friendly to a fault and even if they can't keep up with English, they'd do anything to help you. The place is old, that's what you get for looking for an onsen ryokan but it's well maintained and the cuisine offered was faultless.

Brand new modern huge rooms like a suite with en suite jacuzzi. We took the twin room. Onsen was outdoors with great views of the sea.
Traditional Japanese Ryokan with breakfast in a private room. Super close to Iseshi train station.
The resort is big and we enjoy a good time inside. The dinner is over expectation. The hot spring is wonderful.
Futon and pillow were very comfortable. Onsen facilities were good, especially women's rotenbuto.
Unique experience with very traditional ryokan experience. Amazing. Private use of onsen was amazing. Beautiful private garden. Use of yukata.
Absolutely beautiful resort on the top of a hill. Amazing ocean views. Tons of stuff for kids like ping pong, games room, even karaoke. Be sure to sit on the open air patio for the ashi-no-yu foot bath. Nice yukatas to wear when you go to onsen. Excellent variety at breakfast buffet. We stayed here after visiting Ise Jingu
Spacious onsen baths with a rotenburo. Nice tatami rooms. Friendly staff. Decent food.
A great option if you want an authentic Japanese experience with dinner served in your room. The rooms are Japanese style tatami rooms so sparse of furniture. Dinner was good and after dinner staff came and setup the futon mattresses on the floor. The onsen was amazing and is outdoors with great views of the water. Breakfast was served in a breakfast room and was very traditional Japanese breakfast.
Size of room. Onsen inside always keep hot spring water running.
