Guests at Jizokan Matsuya Ryokan stay in rooms with shoji paper screens and traditional futon bedding. All rooms are air-conditioned and include a TV and slippers. Ryokan is perfectly located, just next to the temple. The staff are welcoming and kind, helping with many things you didn't knew you needed help with. Food is delicious and atmosphere in Ryokan let's you feel like in Japan from the movies. Initially I thought it was pricey, however after the stay I'm disappointed of myself that I didn't book it for longer.

At the ryokan, every unit comes with a tatami. Featuring a private bathroom with a shower and a hair dryer, units at the ryokan also have free WiFi. At the ryokan, the units include bed linen and towels. We had a beautiful room which had been renovated recently. Gorgeous windows and light, and one of the best showers I’ve ever experienced! Such friendly and helpful people working there.

The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. We really liked the history and authenticity of the place, the feeling that it had once been a home and retained some of the original features. There is a nice spot to make coffee or tea, and we slept amazingly well, but you need to be mindful of other guests as the walls are thin. The location was really convenient, easy walk from the train station and the castle. We particularly enjoyed the food (delicious dinner and breakfast) and the kindness of the staff. Fabulous experience.

The 3-star ryokan features mountain views and is 20 km from Zenkoji Temple. The ryokan also offers free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. Our stay at Yadoya-Shiroganeya was nothing short of magical. Firstly, the house itself is beautiful and incredibly well kept. It's like stepping into a time machine but also with some modern conveniences. Secondly, Maki-San, the host, is wonderful. She's warm and welcoming and communicates very well in English. We had such a good time learning about the house, its history, and also about herself and how she runs the place. Thirdly, the food. I cannot stress enough how much of a culinary experience this is. The food served by Maki and her mother is exceptional. Locally-sourced and impeccably prepared, we had everything from fresh sashimi, seasonal vegetables, local beef, tempura, and soba noodles. It was honestly one of the best meals we had in Japan! The food alone makes price justifiable, never mind the rest of the experience. An absolute highlight of our trip, we'd love to stay with Maki again one day.

Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk and luggage storage space, along with free WiFi throughout the property. The ryokan has facilities for disabled guests. It was amazing to experience living in a traditional japanese house.

Set in Kiso, Kisoji no Yado Iwaya provides accommodation with seating area. Offering free private parking, the 3-star ryokan is 41 km from Takato Joshi Park. The accommodation offers a hot spring bath, free WiFi throughout the property and family rooms. The service was exceptional and exemplary. They went over and beyond when addressing our requests. The hotel owner even followed us all the way to the convenience store after we had checked out just to give us additional information about our transportation to our next destination.

There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. The ryokan features a hot spring bath and a lift. Good onsen with indoor and outdoor bath. The self-reservation system was working for us, while we not always were getting in in time we wanted to, eventually we always able to (you check card at onsen entry says "available", you flip a card to "occupied" and write time on the board until you planning to use it, 50 minute max) and it is all yours. The dinners and breakfasts were fantastic. It is traditional dinner, you got about 8 different courses, some cold some hot. While we did not like 100% of courses we had all of them were excellently prepared and served, just not everything was up to our taste (turns out I do not really like horse meat sashimi :) ) The meal room is private, and view is gorgeous. Service was to top notch. Wear yukata to dinner for extra point! We got large basket of really good local apples at check in as a gift and there was green tea and sweets in the room as well.

Very clean. Staffs are exceptional. Very private and exclusive.

Berg Marukaneya is located in Nozawa Onsen, 2 km from Lake Hokuryuko. The ryokan is a 3-minute walk from the nearest ski field and has a ski pass sales point. Guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. A free public hot spring bath facility called Nakao-no-yu is a minute's stroll away. Great location 2 minute walk to the lift and 10 minutes from downtown.
