Just 250 metres from Zenko-ji Temple, Matsuya Ryokan offers simple Japanese rooms with tatami-mat floors, a green-tea maker and an attached Western bathroom. The hotel features public baths. Wonderful place, excellent position (within the temple area). The owners are extremely kind and helpful. Very good breakfast. You have the impression to travel back in time.

We had a beautiful tatami room and slept on futons, it was quiet and comfortable, and breakfast was very good, with choices for lovers of japanese or western breakfast. Loved it.

The chef is passionate about quality Japanese cuisine. I recommend enjoying a meal there even if you don't stay in the hotel, which is quirky but clean and comfortable. You can also get a very hearty breakfast to start the day with. Wonderful hospitality.

Our stay at Yadoya-Shiroganeya was nothing short of magical. Firstly, the house itself is beautiful and incredibly well kept. It's like stepping into a time machine but also with some modern conveniences. Secondly, Maki-San, the host, is wonderful. She's warm and welcoming and communicates very well in English. We had such a good time learning about the house, its history, and also about herself and how she runs the place. Thirdly, the food. I cannot stress enough how much of a culinary experience this is. The food served by Maki and her mother is exceptional. Locally-sourced and impeccably prepared, we had everything from fresh sashimi, seasonal vegetables, local beef, tempura, and soba noodles. It was honestly one of the best meals we had in Japan! The food alone makes price justifiable, never mind the rest of the experience. An absolute highlight of our trip, we'd love to stay with Maki again one day.

The staff was very kind and the location is pretty good. Not too far from the station by foot and there are nice restaurants nearby. The inn has an awesome bathhouse on the top level and a few minutes away there is a public foot bath as well.

Bed are very comfy with a very good sleep.I love the onsen room, very cozy and beautiful, a bit hard to get the private onsen, have to check in front of the onsen room sometimes.

Berg Marukaneya is located in Nozawa Onsen, 2 km from Lake Hokuryuko. The ryokan is a 3-minute walk from the nearest ski field and has a ski pass sales point. Guests can enjoy a meal at the... Amazing 4-night stay at Berg Marukaneya! The half-board meals were fantastic—super delicious and very generous, both in the morning and evening. The room was comfortable, and the location was perfect, just a short walk from the ski lift and slopes. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, even thinking flexibly and creatively to help us extend our stay by two extra nights at the last minute. And as a bonus, we were even offered a free ride to the bus station. Highly recommended! BTW, the ski and snowboard rental across the street was also great!
