This is an amazing place with wonderful owners who are always very warm, helpful and committed. The hotel has an incredibly atmospheric and very well organized atmosphere. Comfort and quality at the highest level. It was very sad to leave so soon. The comfort of sleep, bedding, pillows is so great that I have never slept so well. I would gladly come back again for a good night's sleep. I am happy that I found this place and Matsumoto is worth getting to know better, thank you for such beautiful moments, and I hope to see you soon

Prepared us some freshly baked buns since we were leaving before breakfast would be reasonable. Staff also gave a very nice tour of the building on arrival and answered all of our questions about Matsumoto. Would come back any day and explore the city some more from here! We didn’t get the dinner but it looked delicious from what other guests were eating. The buns were amazing

Simply the best accomodation I have experienced anywhere! Our stay with Maki, her Mother and Kenta dog was relaxing and magical after a week in Tokyo and Maki does absolutley everything to make you feel welcome and at home with her gentle, warm hospitality, The Ryokan itself is an elegant traditional building and is beautifully kept. The amazing Kaiseki dinner and breakfasts that Makis mother presents every night are a wonderful way to experience traditional japanese food after a relaxing onsen bath. Maki was simply the best host, she even drove us up to the start of our walk trail and booked our lunchtime soba restaurant. The local area is breathtaking even in late autumn / early winter and a walk around the shrines is enough to fill a very pleasant day, Wel ove you Maki and we will be back!

We had a lounge, bedroom, beautiful private Onsen. The setting is spectacular and the hosts are very friendly and helpful. He speaks fairly good English and is happy to pick you up and drop you off. The food was amazing - authentic, delicious, bountiful.

Located in the heart of Nozawa Onsen, Tanuki offers guests a traditional accommodation with Japanese-style rooms that feature tatami (woven-straw) flooring. Staff were amazing and the room was modern and very well finished. Very luxurious. Great location to the mountain and village.

My wish is everyone could stay here / experience this stay. Upon arrival we were greeted with a friendly face & exceptional service. They brought our luggage up to the room for us and showed us how to use a ryokan. Honestly wish I could give the man at the front desk / little old lady helping us in a hug. The private onsens were so gorgeous. We were able to access all 3 without a wait , but if they were in use there’s a time limit of 50 minutes and you can mark yourself down next if that’s the case. We chose to have dinner & breakfast included in our stay, and it was also amazing. High quality local traditional food. We were taught how to eat some dishes. We were both brought to tears with the amount of joy this stay brought us. One of our top experiences within Japan. Our room was huge with lots of space & beautiful light. Futons were comfortable. If you’re undecided where to stay for a great ryokan experience, please choose this place ! * If you’re looking for coffee there is a vending machine in lobby area & just outside near the parking lot.

Berg Marukaneya is located in Nozawa Onsen, 2 km from Lake Hokuryuko. The ryokan is a 3-minute walk from the nearest ski field and has a ski pass sales point. Guests can enjoy a meal at the... We booked this accommodation during our ski trip in December, the ski bus station is situated nearby, the accommodation has a special deposit room for the equipment, and across the street, there is a ski rental shop. Everything is situated nearby. I recommend getting dinner in this place, portions are huge, various foods, and most importantly very tasty.
