Obama Onsen, Unzen
Boasting a spa bath, Iseya, Seaview Private Oceanside Bath is situated in Unzen. Each accommodation at the 3-star ryokan has sea views, and guests can enjoy access to a hot spring bath and a public bath. The ryokan also features free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. Everything was above and beyond. The staff was particularly lively and helpful, even for Japanese standards! (which is saying a lot since they're generally very nice!). All the details were very thoughtfully prepared. The food was exquisite! Hard to believe it was all included, since the food alone could have been worth at least $100 in any gourmet restaurant at a big city. The flavors were indeed more than just traditional Japanese and went along with the mixture of influences that Nagasaki is known for. Every dish was explained by the friendly staff, who are evidently very passionate about their craft. The design of the rooms and the hotel are aesthetically and experientially magical. We enjoyed the private onsen in front of the beautiful seaview. They also have a public onsen! The hotel is 3 minutes away (walking) from the Obama Onsen Bus Stop, which is where any bus will drop you off from either Nagasaki or Isahaya Station, so even that comes in handy. 10/10

Unzen Miyazaki Ryokan features a 1,650-square-meter Japanese garden, natural hot spring baths, free Wi-Fi, an on-site bar, cafe, souvenir shop and an exclusive lounge for guests staying in rooms on the 4th floor. Spacious table-seating in the dining room, all tables having a view of the garden (really a park-like setting) and a menu that deserves an international rating at the highest levels, and that applies to both dinner (the landscape outside the glass wall is softly illuminated) and breakfast that offers Western coffee selections and the best of Japanese tea. We booked two nights and we were delightfully surprised to find that both the dinner and breakfast menus were varied. The wait staff and chefs paced the meal to our habits, and as English-speaking guests we never were challenged in communications.

Very nice and cosy apartment hotel with Ryokan vibe. Super clean and easy to find. The location itself is very close to Nagasaki station. I will definitely stay there if i visit Nagasaki again.

Extremely clean. Old style hotel. Great room and very good size with towels and yukata if you need. Hot tea and water provided. We enjoyed the breakfast. Japanese style but not too overwhelming. Close to unzen centre ad there are restaurants for evening food there and plenty onsens
Rooftop open-air onsen, location, traditional touches like yukatas to wear around the hotel and shoji screen in the room. Selection of items to buy in the store downstairs.
Loved the spacious 8th floor tatami room with a fantastic view of the Castle, Bridge and sea. Also the wonderful onsen and toiletries. Helpful staff.
Room was spacious and comfortable, with own private onsen. They offered different patterned yukata for us to choose! We ordered dinner and breakfast and they offered the best meals we had to-date fr hotel/ ryokan. The staff were very friendly and hospitable. Free coffee / tea at lobby were a bonus.
Good location. Rooms were on the small side but fine. and hot spring / onsen were nice and well used. Useful convenience store on site and parking also worked well. Friendly staff.
Great for experiencing a proper Japanese style room with tatami mat floors and a futon bed. It’s also very spacious! The facilities are clean and modern. The couple who run the guesthouse are lovely and very helpful. They speak good English so easy to communicate if you don’t know Japanese.
Excellent modern ryokan with very hospitable staff and amazing fresh and high quality food. We were served by the owner and his wife who were humble and friendly people. A family of 4, we stayed 2 nights in a room with private onsen. The room was modern, clean and the fact that we had a private onsen to ourselves was a winner. Highly recommend this hotel.
Excellent dinner and breakfast buffet, beautifully presented and lots of choices. Beautiful outdoor onsen , lots of choices for Yukata.
