Minami Uonuma
Offering a terrace and hot spring bath, Maruyama Onsen Kojyokan is situated in Minami Uonuma, 2 km from Maiko Snow Resort. Free private parking is available on site. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. Truly one of the most wonderful inns I’ve stayed at in all of my times in Japan! The place is immaculate and feels lovely and new while also having a wonderful 「懐かしい」 vibe to it. From the very start all of the staff were kind and considerate and showed us all the ropes! I adored that the entry into the rooms is all keyless—there’s touch keypads on the doors! We tried all three baths since we reserved the wonderful private rooftop bath. As an FYI for anyone unaccustomed to such a thing, the rooms themselves do not have showers—you’re meant to use the bath areas for your cleaning, so if you’re uncomfortable with the onsen experience in Japan just be aware! You totally should get over your anxieties and use the bath though—they’re relaxing and luxuriant! We had one dinner with them and two breakfasts, and all of the food was absolutely delightful! The breakfast was buffet style and full of local/seasonal ingredients, and the dinner was course after course and we were very very well fed. All in all, I can’t say enough wonderful things. We adored our stay!

The food at breakfast and dinner was varied and exceptional. All of the dishes I tried I liked , and they had a nice variety of western and Japanese. The room we had was huge and very comfortable. The onsen facilities were excellent, and very well kept. We are skiers and this hotel was very well setup for skiers. They have locker rooms for storage as well as changing, and on checkout day you can leave all your luggage , go ski, come back and change and then leave.
But what makes this hotel a standout is the staff. I speak limited Japanese but had no issues communicating with the staff either speaking directly to them or using google translate. They are kind, patient and will do anything to help you. On checkout day, we went skiing and came back at 11:30 and needed to use the courier service taqubin which is conveniently located inside the hotel gift shop. However, we failed to notice beforehand that the shop takes a close break from 11:30 until 3:30 and our train leaves at 3;15. We were very stressed but the lady who runs the store and handles the courier said no problem, she would stay open just for us and give us time to change out of our ski clothes ,repack our ski gear and come back. It took us longer than we thought to repack and change because we had some trouble locating the ski bag as it was behind the counter in long storage. It didn’t matter, she still waited and when we finally finished she patiently helped us with the forms and everything was handled .
When we left again for the station we had some time to wait so we purchased some small sweets and went back to give them to the staff as a thank you for all their exceptional efforts and help with our stay . They seemed genuinely surprised and happy and then walked out to wave us goodbye! How nice and a great happy surprise for us! We cannot recommend this hotel enough and we will be back someday.

It is a historic building that has 200 + years of history. Even the Japanese emperor stayed here a long time ago. On arrival the building looks a bit old but you quickly learn that it is nothing to be concerned about. Staff members, both old and young are exceptional and carry on the traditions of Japanese hospitality. The food, both breakfast and dinner was exceptional. Great variety of traditional Japanese cuisines. Every meal different items (except rice of course :>) . The natural spring hot tub just outside the room was very spacious. Temperature is adjustable by yourself. Truly a great place to spend 3 nights or more. Neighborhood walking also pleasant.

The service when we arrived was absolutely stellar, on top of the amazing hospitality shown Yukiko-san asked about our itinerary and provided us with additional preparatory information which was an absolute lifesaver after the long drive! When we went into our room we found our coats already hung up and its these little things that make the service just so impressive. I also had to wake up the poor staff at around 12AM because we wanted to drive to a konbini nearby, but he was so helpful about it.
The room itself was extremely luxurious, warm and comfortable. Everything was extremely clean and well-kept, and my favourite thing was the open-air bath which we were able to enjoy multiple times.
The dinner was absolutely top-notch and extremely good value for what was paid. The ingredients were fresh and quality, but the culinary skill applied was nothing short of perfection. One of best meals I've had in Japan and I come very often.

Yuzawa Denkiya is beautiful traditional Japanese style hotel. Our family loved sleeping on tatami and enjoyed the little extras like the tea and Japanese biscuits provided. We also loved the indoor and outdoor Onsen. The staff were very kind and we were given fresh towels and wash cloths daily. What a treat. There is a convenience store a couple of hundred metres down the road and vending machines everywhere of course. Love this place and look forward to coming back.
A nice Ryokan in Myoko, a little dated but quite comfortable. The rooms are spacious were were a family of 3 adults sharing a room and we all had plenty of room. Trditional futon sleeping, futons were a little thin for our comfort but the doona cover was lovely and warm. The hosts are very friendly people, nothing was too much trouble. There is a public onsen and a private onsen. We booked the private bath and it was wonderful. We had a Japanese breakfast one morning and it was delicious! The staff were exceptionally friendly
Authentic Japanese style tatami room and bed. Location is good and the food provided are awesome. Open air private onsen is provided in the room. Definitely worth the price
Futon on tatami is at acceptable thickness, so we consider it comfortable. Toilets available every floor, 2 public bathrooms and hot bath located at ground floor, sometimes might need to queue if happen to be full booking that day. Breakfast and dinner available upon request. 5 minutes walk to ski lift, Satoshi-San pick up and fetch us to train station. Will be back on next ski season probably.
The onsen was lovely the room was really nicely decorated ( Japanese style) tatami and futons
The accommodation is close to Ishiuchi Maruyama Ski resort, and they offer free transportation to and from the ryokan. You can also use the facilities like the onsen, dry room or have them transport you to the shinkansen station until 6PM after checking out.
Once we got settled in, we liked the private onsen booking feature so that we could, as a family, bathe together. The breakfast selection was really great and we all slept super soundly in our tatami room. Very good base for a ski holiday.
Great location within walking distance to station ski rental just across the street Delicious breakfast Onsen facility very nice with free loppies and Ramen Clean room Beautiful Yukata
the traditional room was spacious, and has a great view of the mountains. you can experience the Japanese lifestyle wearing Yukatas and sleeping on futons which were so comfortable, and you can keep your shoes on all the way to your room. the onsen was great, especially the outside one when it was snowing. the kids had fun in the games room even though it cost me with those skill testers. bars are great too with nice beer on draught.
