Located in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, Ryori Ryokan Tsurugata offers Japanese-style accommodations in a historical building from the Edo period. Free Wi-Fi is available at the public areas and guests can relax in the public baths. JR Kurashiki Train Station is a 10-minute walk away. This was a very special place to stay- I think possibly the best hosted experience I have ever had. It is a traditional ryokan and so I expected the courteous welcome and the room to be laid out with a futon while I ate, as well as a lovely ‘ofuro’ bath. However my expectations were exceeded because the staff gave a truly warm and welcoming, homely service - I really felt as if I were a guest in someone’s home. Everything was explained in detail so that I could appreciate the flowers, the history of the town, best places to visit, the local art gallery (they even have local artwork in the hotel) and of course the ‘Kaiseki Ryori’ (formal many course meal). I was quite sad to leave. Nothing was too much trouble and I felt like a ‘respected guest’ - thank you so much!

Kamo Shrine is 7.9 km from the ryokan, while Ryozanji Temple is 8.4 km from the property. Okayama Airport is 34 km away. It was a beautiful Japanese home stay. The hosts make you feel apart of the family and provide delicious Japanese food. They went out of their way to show us around the area and teach us about the history. The rooms are very cosy and the main living area has incredible views across the mountains.

Located in the northern area of Okayama, Yunogo Onsen HOTEL YUNOMORI BISYUNKAKU features 8 public indoor and outdoor baths, a game room, and a store. 2 hours to JR Okayama Station by car or train. Free parking is available.

Guest rooms are furnished with tatami mats, and some rooms have Japanese-style futon mattresses. Air-conditioned rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV and an electric kettle. The hotel was beautiful and the room we had seemed newly renovated (Semi Suite Double room) and was very comfortable. The onsen was very clean and spacious, and the yukatas were colourful and lovely. We upgraded our meals to the Nagi beef option and it did not disappoint although a little pricey. The breakfast buffet was good with wide selection. Parking was free and the place was not difficult to find. Check in/out was smooth and the Manager at the dining hall was very helpful and friendly explaining various activities we could do in the area. There is a table tennis table and a small diner in the hotel which was convenient. We will certainly return.

From arrival to departure, everything and everyone was exceptional. We felt so cared for and so well supported. They took our request for vegan food to heart and provided some of the most delicious food we've had in Japan. Our server, who was originally from Nepal, was excellent and very attentive.
