Located in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, Ryori Ryokan Tsurugata offers Japanese-style accommodations in a historical building from the Edo period. Free Wi-Fi is available at the public areas and guests can relax in the public baths. JR Kurashiki Train Station is a 10-minute walk away. This was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We stayed as a family of four for two nights, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful always ready to assist us with anything we needed. The Ryokan itself is beautiful and full of rich history. Its location is perfect, right in the center of Kurashiki, Japan’s famous denim town. The food was absolutely amazing, every dish was full of flavor and clearly prepared with care by a skilled chef. The shared bathroom was clean, and it was a great opportunity to experience a traditional Japanese bath. If you book this hotel, don’t forget to take a short evening walk through Kurashiki, it’s truly beautiful.

Kamo Shrine is 7.9 km from the ryokan, while Ryozanji Temple is 8.4 km from the property. Okayama Airport is 34 km away. It was a beautiful Japanese home stay. The hosts make you feel apart of the family and provide delicious Japanese food. They went out of their way to show us around the area and teach us about the history. The rooms are very cosy and the main living area has incredible views across the mountains.

Boasting a garden and views of inner courtyard, Yoshii Ryokan is a ryokan set in a historic building in Kurashiki, 400 metres from Shinkeien Garden. There is an in-house restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. The ryokan has family rooms. Our room had an adjoining garden, which was peaceful and lovely. The room was comfortable and well-appointed. The meals were traditional and delicious, with polite and kind staff. The bath was very enjoyable too.

Set 18 km from Former Residence of Mitsukuri Genpo, Kifuno Sato offers 4-star accommodation in Mimasaka and has an open-air bath, free bikes and a garden. Free private parking is available and the ryokan also offers a shuttle service for guests who want to explore the surrounding area.

There is a coffee shop on-site. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. From arrival to departure, everything and everyone was exceptional. We felt so cared for and so well supported. They took our request for vegan food to heart and provided some of the most delicious food we've had in Japan. Our server, who was originally from Nepal, was excellent and very attentive.

Bingoya is a wonderful traditional Ryokan and it was an amazing experience. Beautiful tatami mat rooms, shoji screens, sliding doors, hanging scroll alcoves, peaceful gardens with stone lanterns - perfect! Delicious breakfasts, which look gorgeous too. Lots of details in the buildings- inside and out, so it is lovely to contemplate your surroundings in one of a hundred different spots.

Stunning onsen (natural hot water spa) next to the beautiful yubara river with a direct view of the Sunayu (the famous and fabulous free public bath near the dam in Yubara) from the spa waters. Gorgeous Kashikiri (private rental) onsen bath on the roof top of the hotel called "Sora No Yu" that will take your breath away with the night view of the lighten up yubara bridge and river. Kind staff. Delicious breakfast. Relaxing atmosphere. Cute rabbit motifs all over the hotel. There is a cute message board for guests at the entrance to leave messages on little wooden boards (perfect for artists). Beautiful hotel. Relaxation heaven. Perfect location! Highly recommend Hakkei in Yubara Onsen.

Hotel is in general good, just not compared to the price you pay.
