It is located 18 km from Ungan-ji Temple and provides full-day security. This 5-star ryokan offers private entrance. Easily the best part of my trip was staying here. I felt like a mixture of an esteemed guest, friend and family while staying here. The hospitality and meticulous care of the staff, especially Maylene, the friendliness of the locals and the beauty of the hotel grounds and overall surrounding nature made for the perfect stay. My hotel room was like an apartment to myself and it was so clean, the beds were the most comfortable bed I’ve slept on, the floor has a heat option, there’s a mini kitchen (I didn’t get to cook anything though) and the shower was great and also has a tub for you to soak in too! They also give guests a yukata to wear! Every day I got a platter of fresh seasonal fruits and veggies sourced locally. They gave an option of a western or Japanese breakfast (I opted for the Japanese) and even how they served it and displayed it to you was meticulous. Food was delicious! They gave an option for a half day or a full day trip where staff can drive you around to different sites and experiences around the area. They have great recommendations (also make sure to read the material they provided you so you get a better idea on what you’d like to do). I did a soba making class and had a private onsen experience. The prices were fair for all the things I asked to do and see during my half day. They would also personally take me to restaurants and speak with them to help with the language barrier. It’s the countryside so the immediate town around was small but there’s still some things to sight see and eat; I spent one of my days just walking around and exploring town. I had food poisoning before coming here and I was literally nursed back to health here with the fresh food and the staff checking in on me all the time. If you’re hesitating, I’d say book this place for 1-3 nights at least. It’s a little far out but when are you ever going to stay in a historical 200 year old renovated complex in the beautiful countryside of Japan? You won’t regret it.

The place is wonderful , in the very core of Nikko national park. The dinner and the breakfast were magic. The magic was also in the onsen. I highly recommand this ryokan
Comfortable rooms/lovely and comfy futons/ however the room is a little dated. The onsen is great, we enjoyed it and the fireworks on the day we stayed were spectacular and fun.
It was our first time staying in a ryokan, and it did gave us a really good impression. Property itself was nice, located in a small town beside the river. Room was facing the river so we can hear the soothing noise from the river. Dinner was excellent--food kept on coming, great quality, great variety. They even managed to cater our diet (without pork and alcohol). I love the outdoor onsen. It's very relaxing to soak in the hot water facing the river.
Rooms are very big and comfy, onsen is small but very nice to enjoy. Nikko is quiet and calm and so was this location. Breakfast included was the right choice because it‘s hard to find something to eat nearby especially in the morning. Ryokan is amazingly beautiful and futon was adequate.
Close to a beautiful bridge and river, big room, comfortable beds, big onsen, friendly staff, free beer at dinner buffet. Comfortable yukatas of different colours to choose from.
The staff was amazing, very kind and helpful, they went the extra mile for us and we were very thankful! We loved our room which was very spacious and a private onsen in the beautiful garden. Super clean and with all we needed. Also the futon was very comfortable.
Beautiful onsen, very welcoming staff, good location, very confortable (sleeping on tatami and futon), wide room, storage space.
Fantastic traditional Japanese inn (ryokan). The on-site onsen had two options, indoor and outdoor. The friendliness of the staff made us feel very welcome and the meals served were traditional and delicious.
We loved this place! Large tatami room with futon beds (note that you will have to make your bed which is common in Japan). The common areas are wonderful with many places to seat and relax, or work (desks and tables). The shared kitchen was large and super clean with everything you need to cook. The onsite Onsen was fantastic! One indoor Onsen and one outside, which was amazing! Staff was nice and friendly.
