I loved the design, the location, but most of all - the wonderful staff & delicious food, beautiful garden! We have been travelling for 3 weeks and staying at various beautiful places, but SOKI Atami is without a doubt, the best! I look forward to returning soon before we leave for home.

Onyado Yuinosho, Shirakawago ligger i Shirakawa, 45 km fra Hida Folk Village, og har et fælles opholdsområde, en restaurant og en bar samt gratis privat parkering. Overnatningsstedet ligger ca. Experiencing a Ryokan was amazing and Onyado Yuinosho is the perfect place for it, the staff is incredibly nice and accomodating, the food is incredible, the rooms and facilities are so fancy and pretty and atmosphere is so relaxed and cozy! They give you all sorts of amenities, they have free ramen at night, coffee, yogurt drinks and they even leave local candy to try inside the room! They also have vending machines for soft drinks/coffee/tea and alcohol! The meals they serve are extremely tasty and fancy with beautiful window views of the mountains! The private onsen rooms are beatiful and relaxing! The two nights we spent there were the highlight of our trip! Absolutely must recommend this place if you plan to visit Shirakawa-go!

Ryokan Asunaro: A Traditional Japanese Inn in Takayama. Nestled just a 6-minute walk from Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Center, Ryokan Asunaro offers an authentic Japanese inn experience. Everything was great. Good location. Very welcoming staff. Liked the Onsen. Traditional meals were great.

Oyado Koto No Yume ligger blot 2 minutters gang fra Takayama Station og har farverige værelser i japansk stil, kildevandsbade, en restaurant der serverer morgenmad samt gratis wi-fi i hele bygningen. Location was amazing- walking distance from the station and from the old town. The place was beautiful, and the rooms had everything. Futons were very comfy. The onsen was the best I tried so far (but I haven’t tried a lot). We did the private bath, and it was really nice. They also lend you yukatas to wear around the ryokan. And the staff were very friendly, hospitable and helpful!

K's House Ito Onsen - Historical Ryokan Hostel ligger i Shizuoka i en 100 år gammelt fredet hus, blot 7 minutters gang fra JR Ito Station. A must stay, got to experience a wonderful private onsen-esque bath on a budget. Wonderful staff combined with one of the best social spaces I’ve had the pleasure of inhabiting.

Miyama Ouan Kyoritsu Resort ligger i de rolige Hida-bjergene og har traditionelle værelser med bad med vand fra varme kilder og udsigt over landskabet. Very nice and cosy space! Staff were friendly, facilities were nice, all was great! The free ramen at night was delicious! Food was generally not bad.

横川温泉湯殿ととのゆ ligger i Shimoda, 33 km fra Koibito Misaki Cape, og har en have, et fælles opholdsområde og gratis privat parkering. Ryokanen har gratis wi-fi og ligger ca. The location was perfect for getting away from the busy streets of Tokyo, though I highly recommend renting a (small!) car to get here, as it is tucked away from public trsnsportation routes. Our room was clean, surprisingly well equipped and comfortable. Service was spot on, communication with our host was easy and quick. We never saw any of the staff though, which made the quality of service just that much more impressive. We were the only guests staying here at the time, so we had all facilities to ourselves (an introvert's dream). There were plenty of instructions in english for all the general how-tos, check-in and check-out was easy using the machine. Prepare to face some bugs around the area, we had a few interesting encounters with moths by the entrance. The room itself was equipped with bugspray and deterrents, though we didn't need them as our room was perfectly wildlife free. The bug screen in the private onsen kept the bugs at bay, allowing us to bathe and sleep while enjoying the sounds and smells of the surrounding nature!

Hakuunsou ligger i Takayama, 48 km fra Takayama Station og 26 km fra Kamikōchi-dalen. Her er en restaurant og gratis privat parkering samt gratis wi-fi overalt. Although it has a retro feel I enjoyed the comfort and service immensely. The private onsen was so welcome and pleasurable

Iroriyado Hidaya ligger i Takayama, 18 minutters gang fra Takayama Station, og har en have, et fælles opholdsområde og gratis privat parkering. Denne ryokan med 4 stjerner har bagageopbevaring. The staff of Iroriyado Hidaya was exceptionally friendly and helpful, also with regard to our kids; their genuine kindness and hospitality is a memory we will treasure. Using the traditional clothing and onsen was also a one of a kind experience. With our rental car the ryokan was a good exploration base for the surrounding area. And there is a really good authentic restaurant around the corner. If we got a chance in the future we would definitely come again!

Oni no Sumika ligger i Izu, mindre end 1 km fra Shuzenji-templet, og har en have, en bar og gratis privat parkering. Overnatningsstedet ligger ca. The hotel is beautiful. Separate little houses/apartments set in a Japanese garden, private onsen bath, the room was large and so comfortable. The dinner was so good, and they could accommodate me on the spot when they served a soup i couldn’t eat. The staff were absolutely amazing! And we booked the ikebana introduction, which was a great experience!
