This hotel is run by the kindest couple, and I’m still thinking about how good dinner and breakfast were. Some of the best meals of my trip! You can also order lunch for the trail. The onsen was wonderful after a long day hiking. Room was on the 3rd floor and very quiet, it was compact and simple, very clean, with everything you might need, including yukatas for dinner and towels for the onsen. Shared toilets and sinks in the hall were never busy; there are two communal showers inside the onsen. I asked about laundry and they took mine and washed it for me within a few hours! The bus stop to Shingu or Hongu was a one-minute walk from the hotel. Yunomine Onsen was such a unique town, I feel lucky to have stayed here and enjoyed such great hospitality!

It was such an amazing experience. Thank you to the monk staff who were so kind and patient and guided us through meditation custom and practices. Our room included shojin ryori (buddhist vegetarian cuisine) breakfast and dinner which was very balanced and filling. I feel a sense of gratitude and peace coming back to Tokyo. I would like to go every year if I can.

Loved the tour we were given after morning ritual. It was really nice and educational. Staff was beyond helpful and early bag storage was so convenient.

The host is very nice and attentive. EVerything is clean and we had all we needed. The dinner was delicious as well as the bento box for our trek, probably the best bento box we had in Japan!

Very cool experience, we had the best room so all cool (considering you are in a monastery). The morning prayer is super interesting as well as the position is very good. Staff is very nice and both dinner and breakfast were great.

Located in Koyasan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 高野山 宿坊 常喜院 -Koyasan Shukubo Jokiin- offers free private parking. All rooms include a flat-screen TV. Amazing authentic temple experience. Anyone leaving a bad review has misunderstood the purpose of the stay. Would definitely recommend!

Hotel Kirinosato Takahara features outdoor and indoor hot spring baths, only a 2-minute walk from the World Heritage Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Routes. Our favourite stay in Japan. Beautiful view and decoration. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The food was delicious and healthy. The onsen is very nice and spacious.

Located in the sacred Mount Koya area, 高野山 宿坊 桜池院 -Koyasan Shukubo Yochiin- is a historic temple and an accommodation for visitors. An amazing experience, particularly pleasantly surprised by the 2-course dinner, local and fresh ingredients, very delicious vegetarian meal! Finally, morning service in the main prayer hall was followed up with short history and explanations from the monks.
