The apartments are lovely and of a high standard. Spacious, with beautiful detail and views. Watching the hummingbirds and the other birds was a delight. The grounds are lovely. The location is close to the road to the waterfall and so out of the hustle and bustle. Everything was perfect. Thank you. This place is a little gem and very good value.

This is an amazing place! The houses are scattered through the grounds, so your only neighbours will be hummingbirds and monkeys. The room was spotless clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything you need, including a small stove and some essential ingredients (oil, salt, pepper, coffee). The gardens are beautiful, with wonderful views of the volcanoe, frog ponds, a small labyrinth, and several shaded seating areas. Best of all, there are a few trails leading through the forest, one of which goes by a small waterfall in which you can bathe. As it is on private grounds there are not many people around, I had the trails all to myself. I absolute loved it and would have stayed longer if I could!

We couldn't have been happier at Cabanas del Rio. Leo (the manager) his staff were incredible; the apartments are clean, spacious, and comfortable; the grounds are beautiful; and the frog tour was a highlight of our trip. The staff gave us great recommendations on places to visit and were more than happy to accommodate our requests. The kitchen was well stocked, so we were able to make our own food (except for the wonderful breakfasts in the morning). Our kids loved having their own king sized beds -- three in each unit!

This was a nice comfortable apartment, in a quieter neighborhood, 10-15mins walk from the main town of La Fortuna. From outside the apartment there is a nice view of the volcano. We enjoyed being able to spend time relaxing in the covered porch area when it rained. The kitchen had everything we needed for our stay, so we enjoyed having the option to cook for ourselves. The host, Olga, was very friendly and on hand to answers any questions we had.

Staff was wonderful, the concierge let us know whenever there was interesting wildlife on the property (monkeys and some interesting birds). The frog tour was also very cool. The pool was great and a wonderful way to spend each afternoon when travelling with kids. Plenty of space in the rooms, with lovely big beds! Also a very well kitted kitchen, we were able to keep our costs in La Fortuna manageable because the kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals.

Arenal Palacios impressed with its prime location and the beautiful, new house. The pool area is well-maintained and inviting. The excellent kitchen equipment is particularly noteworthy, ideal for self-catering. A thoroughly enjoyable stay for those who appreciate comfort and independence
