Karole is absolutely amazing. The apartment is on a family estate, it’s beautiful and very well furnished. We felt at home, far from the tourist area, in nature. We saw a lot of toucans and other amazing birds. Thank you so much. We had a blast!

We absolutely loved our 5 night stay with Lusbeth, Alfredo, and family in the rustic cabins surrounded by their beautiful gardens. A generous, delicious, homemade breakfast was included. There was even home made passionfruit jam and fresh juice from their own fruits. There were many colourful birds, including toucans. They gave us a free night tour of their garden to see the frogs and other critters. They helped us organize activities and were genuinely kind. Our cabin was clean and comfortable with enough beds for 5 people. The kitchenette was a welcome addition so we could cook our own meals. I recommend supporting this local family by staying with them when you visit the Bijagua area and Volcanoes Tenorio and Miravalles. I had an amazing time at Papaya Lodge! Every morning, I was lucky enough to have toucans and hummingbirds visit right outside my window, along with other beautiful birds. Honestly, it was exactly how I imagined Costa Rica. The whole experience was above my expectations. It felt like being a modern-day Robinson Crusoe, but with all the comfort. The beds were very confortable and the terrasse (with jungle view) was great. Highly recommend if you want a peaceful escape with a touch of adventure. I will be back for sure !

Fabulous little house with all the facilities you need. Simple but cosy and feeling comfortable and homely. Diego and his wife are wonderful kind hosts who assisted us in many ways. We can't recommend them enough. The house is right on one edge of town near all the shops and a couple of bars restaurants and very easy access to the Volcan Tenorio. Off road parking was useful too.

The location was perfect for me because I was backpacking on foot, the place is only 5-10 minutes walk from the highway bus stop. There is also a protected forest reserve right beside the property so I was able to see sloths, monkeys, toucans, butterflies, etc
