My partner and I loved this house! We were greeted by Seiko who gave us the key and she was the perfect host during our stay. The house is a renovated akiya and it has been done to such a high standard! It is so comfortable and we had a really great time! There is also a really cute coffee shop next door and the lady who runs it sells great coffee and food, and is really friendly! The location is fantastic as it is so close to the nature in the region in order to get out and explore! We had a motorcycle and it was great to be located on the edge of the city so that we could head out on adventures! All in all, I would 100% recommend this accommodation to anyone who wants a comfortable stay in Shimanto City!

We loved everything! Our host was beyond helpful, nice and available, he made our stay like being with a friend/family in an old home out in the country, alongside mountains, a crystal clear river and an olds shrine. As I expect many guests do, we added on an evening meal and our host was more than happy to share his culinary expertise and allow us to join in on the preparing process for a most amazing meal. Japan can be busy, but here outside of Shimanto city it was country life-style, waking up to birds (and the owner's two beautiful cats :) ) in the morning... We sincerely hope to be able to return some day.

Beautiful home in quiet area of Shimanto, just a few minutes from the river! We didn’t have a car but had bicycles, which took us about 50 minutes from the city and closest shops! The owners were very responsive on message and made for a completely hassle free stay!

Rosie is one of the best parts of this accommodation. Not only her friendliness welcomed us well at the beginning, but also the talk and recommendations about planning the trip. The mosquito net is another thing that we really like.

We loved the house and the host was very kind. We were unaware that there were no stores near by so he bought us food from his house. It was nice to be in a quiet area.

We really enjoyed staying here. The house is extremely modern and beautiful. It was great for our large group. All the facilities were great. It was a very comfortable stay. We also enjoyed the proximity to the town and the beach. The location is great. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. We will definitely book again!

As soon as I arrived there, the owner of the place, Shinichi, rushed to join him to let me taste the fish he had caught that morning, in Shabu-shabu. I immediately felt at home. In the evening, some friends of his came to eat with us, including an adorable old lady who was no one's grandmother, as well as the manager of a neighboring inn and her guests. Moment of pure happiness. For ¥2000 per person we had a simply divine meal cooked by the host, consisting of an incredible salad with eggplant, cherry tomatoes and fish, shabu shabu with all kinds of fresh fish caught on same day by Shinichi and rice. It's definitely worth it because he is an excellent cook and the products are just amazing! Japanese style room with tatami, very basic but perfect for me and with a view of the sea! They lent me a bike and I took some wonderful walks around it. I also had the chance to see the arrival of the fishing boat and the trophies of fish. It was great. Sukumo Box is a very warm place and it is appreciated if you participate a little in the life of the house, which will return it a hundredfold. One of my fondest memories of Japan. I will go back there for sure.
