The experience of living in a medieval home is unbeatable. There's an extremely affordable public parking lot right behind the fortress wall (5 minutes walk) and it's 1.3€ per hour or 6€ per day (weekdays 9-18). The host told us we could park right in front for a few minutes to unload the luggage, but it was no problem walking from the parking lot with everything. The kitchen is fully equipped, so we could have breakfasts at home, quick and cheap (there's a Kaufland close to the old center, but on the other side of it). The hallway was super cold (this is not a down side, you'd never spend time there, as the whole place is upstairs), but the rest of the apartment was warm and cozy, including the room in the attic! This is just to say that the heating is working great there.

And having a direct view of the Neuschwanstein castle was a highlight too - it was the first thing we saw in the morning and one of the last things at night. Breakfast was tasty too, and every request we had was fulfilled quickly and in a really friendly way. Wherever we’re back in the region we’ll be staying here again.
