I truly loved everything about Mario Lakeside. The location is peaceful and beautiful, right by the lake — perfect for relaxing. The room was clean, cozy, and well-maintained. What made this place special is the heart behind it. The owner, Pak Ali, is a kind and inspiring person. He also runs a foundation for children with cleft lips in Sumatra — which made my stay feel even more meaningful. Upstairs, there’s a vegetarian café with delicious food. They grow some of their ingredients on-site (farm-to-table concept), and I was blown away by the haloumi sandwich – they even import the cheese from the UK! It’s not just a place to stay, it’s a place that stays with you. I’d definitely come back if I visit Toba again.

He is available on Whatsapp and is very responsive. He picked me up from the bus station and also drove me there when I was leaving Bukit Lawang. He gave lots of good, accurate and useful information regarding transportation and prices and restaurant recommendations. The room was clean. It wasn't pristine and perfect but it was nice and I was very comfortable. Remember, this is in the jungle basically, so there will be some insects from time to time and even a few geckos, but they are really cute! They have mosquito nets, so you feel safe from the creepy crawlies. But there weren't many of them anyway. And finally, do the tour with them! The prices are not extraordinarily cheap, but they are in line with everywhere else. I asked around, and they were all the same price, so honestly, I would be careful if you found a tour that is "too cheap." The guide, Putra, spoke English well, and he helped us find 4 organgutans and other animals in the off-season. The food was plentiful and delicious (thank you, Bruno, the cook).

My family and I had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful, newly built villa as the first guests. The house is very bright, lovely decorated and very spacious. It's situated directly on the stunning white sand beach with a wonderful view of the turquoise ocean and nearby little islands. It has two bedrooms, well well-equipped kitchen and large living areas. We were warmly welcomed by a manager at the harbour. All the transportation, boat trips to the islands and the car rental were also easily arranged for us by the owner. The villa is situated in the heart of the main village, so you have easy access to the shops and local warnings. You can watch the fishermen in the morning and easily blend with the local people who are always incredibly friendly.

The homestay was very clean and the room was comfortable and equipped with a fan and a key There is a kitchen and 2 showers that are simple but very clean and easy to use

Rating: 10/10 I really enjoyed my stay here. It was a beautiful place and I had a great time. It was possible to make tea and coffee without paying extra and it would have been possible to watch TV. The owner Izoen was very friendly and helpful. I felt very welcome and relaxed. I only regret not planning more time to relax in Bukit Lawang. I hope to come back one day!

We wanted somewhere different to spend Christmas and came across Valhalla house online, the house was as amazing as it looks in the pictures and was right on the beach that you have to yourself! The house was clean & comfortable and had everything we needed - water, towels, cooking facilities etc! As the island was quite remote we were struggling to find how to get there and get around but Marcelo, the host, went above and beyond to help us out with flights and ferries. His communication was great, and he gave us some great food recommendations as well as a contact for surf lessons, which we all really enjoyed on Christmas day, and was just so helpful with all of the questions we had! Marcelo also put us in touch with a local, Dolman, who drove us to and from the airport, even though the roads were bad he made it so easy for us to get around by providing bikes at a really good price. Overall we had an amazing stay at Valhalla and would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing time on a paradise island, surrounded by local culture, beautiful beaches and lots surfing!!

Hos Batu Ridi Jungle i Timbanglawang er der udsigt til floden, en have, en terrasse, en restaurant og en bar. This place is just amazing. So chill and peaceful — right in the middle of the jungle. There’s not a lot to do here, but honestly, that’s exactly the point. The people are super kind and show you a lot about local life. You’re completely surrounded by nature — it doesn’t get more authentic than this. We first stayed in the city, but I’d come here ten times over instead. I planned to stay one night and ended up staying two weeks. Absolutely loved it!

Dette feriehus har 1 soveværelse, køkken med køleskab og brødrister samt kedel.... Amazing location! Right by the lake, you can just walk down and take a swim. Even at night it's really beautiful. There are many restaurants within walking distance as well. The house itself was comfortable. The host Ranti was great as well! She's really funny and helpful. She helped us to book motorbikes and a day tour, both which turned out amazing. It's really convenient to get a ferry back to mainland as well. The ferry can stop right at the house to drop you off/pick you up.
