I was here three weeks ago and decided to come back. No hostel is like this. The staff is amazing and friendly, the people is marvellous and social. It is totally understandable that people have stayed here for so long. Cute dog, but a bit hectic sometimes. Perfect placement, just a sec from the beach. Lovely volunteer, especially that extra guy, think his name is Alex.

A washing machine and a kitchen are at guests' disposal. - Nothing, everything was perfect.

Beautiful house with local architectural details like wooden windows and wooden terrace fencing. The village of Batigama is also very authentic - there are almost no large or even medium-sized hotels, just small houses where local people live and also other small guesthouses. At the same time the guesthouse is very near to the main road that connects all the resorts on the southern coast. The best beaches in the area are Turtle beach in 5 minutes walk (good for relaxation and turtle watching) and Hiriketiya beach which is 3 km away and has bigger waves and surf lifestyle vibe. The family who owns the house is very nice. They make delicious breakfasts and also can help with useful information, such as public transport schedule or facilities in the village. The owners also have a dog that is super cute and friendly!

I booked 2 nights and ended up staying 5 nights as this place is so nice- big, clean rooms. The people will go beyond to make you happy. Always very humble and friendly.

Home from home! Ruwan and his family couldn’t have made us feel more welcome to their lovely Homestay. Nothing was too much trouble. The room had a very comfortable bed and modern bathroom. The shower was powerful and in the heat a welcome relief. Our room was on the small side but this wasn’t a problem as the outside space had a hammock, table and chairs. Breakfast was served daily by Ruwan and his lovely daughter. It was fresh and plentiful and always delivered with a big smile. The air conditioning in the room wasn’t great and took some getting used to. Ruwan did kindly offer to change our room but we declined as we didn’t want to inconvenience him with another room to clean. However it is only fair to share this information. We stayed 4 Nights with Ruwan and his family and everyday he checked on our welfare, if we needed anything or a ride anywhere. He organised a wonderful Whale watching trip for us, one we would recommend, as a must when in this area. Ruwan kindly cooked us a delicious Sri Lanka. Fish supper despite his wife only day’s earlier giving birth to their son. On New Years Day the family invited us for breakfast in their home. The food was plentiful, delicious and a reflection of this family’s kindness and willingness to share their hospitality with us. I urge Anyone in this area to visit Ruwan and his family if wanting an authentic experience. Ruwan, thank you , we will be back. You are in our hearts forever. Xox
