Ski Resorts in Hakuba

My stay at Dark Horse was one of the best I have had in my whole 1 month trip to Japan. The house is very warm and welcoming, you feel like you are living at a friends’ house. Andy and his staff were very nice, and drove me and the other guests to many nice locations, including and outstanding onsen. Dinner and breakfast were very good. The beds were very comfy.

Practically everything! There are so many amazing things to say about this place, I'll just go in order: 1) They were VERY prompt and communicative over booking.com chat for my questions and requests for my sister who is on a wheelchair. 2) They have a free shuttle bus service for pickup from the train/bus station and a dropoff. AND for whenever you want to visit anywhere in Hakuba that's within a 10 min drive diameter. HOW COOL IS THAT?! An absolute highlight and USP of this place. 3) THE STAFF! Omg, the staff is some of the BEST I've ever seen in all of my stays around the world. In particular, their managers Thomas and Rena. I cannot emphasize how immensely helpful they both were throughout my stay there working around the clock to ensure we had the best time. Seriously, words cannot describe how great they were and I cannot thank them enough. 4) Thomas, who was coordinating with me over messages before my arrival; made whatever possible arrangements for my handicapped sister to ensure she had the smoothest time and I am incredibly thankful to him for that. Not only this, he personally took so much time and effort to make sure we got to do the activities we wanted and made all sorts of arrangements including arranging for ski rentals and inquiring with the resorts before we got there. Anyone from the Wadano team reading this, please make sure this guy is taken care of well. He truly is the crown jewel of our experience there. 5) The hotel itself is equipped with an awesome lounge area with a pool table, Foosball, board games and plenty of spaces to relax and unwind. Never had a dull time while I was there. 6) The rooms were wonderful and spacious. A perfect blend between modern hotel rooms on one side and a Japanese inn kinda feeling on the other. Overall, this was the best stay we had out of all of the places we visited in Japan.

Location great... can ski right across the road. Breakfast was superb... something different every day, but always something good. Plus normal toast and cereal every day if you wanted that.

Clean, convenient and comfortable. Host was amazingly kind and patient during my stay there. You can order home cooked and delicious dinner for 1500 yen and breakfast for 800 yen. They also offer discounted gear rentals and lift passes. Their place is also located 1-2 mins walk from the shuttle bus stop. The room was also warm and toasty. So happy that I stayed here and I will definitely be back if I am in Hakuba.

The spaciousness. The views. The cleanliness. The exceptional host. The apartment is super spacious and well equipped with everything you need. We were a family of 4 and had more than enough room to enjoy the time. There is a ski room in the basement and a heated room for storing boots. Bob, the owner, goes more than the extra mile to provide a memorable stay to his guests - a shuttle service to the slopes is included. Bob knows the good ski shops, the best onsen, good restaurants and is generally a very good source for all kind of information one might need during the stay. Thank you Bob, we had a super nice week.

Amazing treatment from the host right from the very beginning. Host is very friendly and helped us to shuttle us from Hakuba train stn to the accommodation. Host even offered to allow us to shop at the grocery to buy food etc. Host provided a brief orientation and guided us through the accommodation facilities and provided information Hakuba activities. The cottage is very clean, cosy and spacious. As we went during winter, the cottage provides good heating to ensure that guests are comfortable. We are able to freely play with the snow outside the cottage and the host even lend us a sled for the kid to slide around the snow. Very friendly host and very comfortable stay. Highly recommended.

The hospitality and just friendlieness of the owners is perfect. They will try to go out of their way to make the stay comfortable as possible. Rooms with heated floors, little onsen, drying room, location close to restaurants, bars and shuttle services.. All is just very good.
