The property was in a nice location close enough to Iiyama Station. The hosts were some of the nicest people we have met and drove us to and from the station (6:30am!!). One of the comfiest places we have stayed and hope we can go back soon.

Renovated in 2016, the beautiful, chalet-like Active Life Madarao offers ski-to-door access from Madarao Kogen Ski Resort, a 3-minute walk away.

This is probably the best ski accommodation I've stayed in Japan. The location is excellent, the room has ample space, not to mention a safe, meaning i don't have to carry my passports and backup cash with me to the slopes. An oversized drying room means skis, poles etc can be placed easily without having to worry about scratching other people's gear. There are also two pool tables, once next to the bar and one in a games room which also has ping pong and foosball - all of which my children happily indulged in after a day of skiing. And, a private open air Onsen. This is accommodation is simply magnificent. The host - Lisa, is lovely and helpful - she assisted us with every aspect of the stay - from moving luggage from another accommodation, to booking taxi and late night food.

Perfect ski lodge for our large family. The owners were very hospitable and quick to respond to our questions and needs. We took ski and snowboard lessons with Sam, Taki, and Kotone at Nozawa and Togari, and as it turns out Taki’s wife is a world class baker who cooked up the best breakfast buns this side of the Pacific. Thank you for making our family trip extra memorable!

This hotel was perfect! Absolutely fantastic local Japanese breakfast and dinner served beautifully. The location is great a short walk to the lift station. Lifts passes can be purchased on site along with rentals etc meaning you can be on the slopes immediately. The hotel has a lovely Onsen too! We will be back ! Thank you for amazing service to the wonderful family and staff.

Well located guest house in Madarao. Staff were excellent and very hospitable. Lift to/from the main ski area each day as required but we often walked as it was so close and easy. We were picked up from and dropped off at local train stations (Myokokogen and Iiyama respectively) by a staff member. Food was good particularly the one dinner we had at Maroudo. Onsen was a good temperature. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming pension, run by an incredibly kind and hardworking couple. Despite the heavy snowstorm disrupting transportation, they went above and beyond to assist us, ensuring we reached our destination smoothly. Their generosity didn’t stop there—they even brought our skis to the bus station, making our departure hassle-free. The warmth and hospitality we experienced made our trip even more special.
