The location in an enchanting forest in the middle of a winter wonderland and away from the crowds and lights of the nearby town of Akaslompolo (though not too far as to make it a long drive) was excellent for peaceful relaxation and observation of the northern lights. The staff were excellent and made every effort to accommodate to our needs and special requests. The pirate sauna/jacuzzi and ice hole were a delight!

The surroundings have many opportunities for outdoor activities, including skiing, cycling and fishing. Ylläs gondola lift is 5 minutes' away, and Kellokas Nature Centre is 2.4 km away. Kittilä Airport is 50 km away. It is a cozy, peaceful, small inn. The people who run it treated us like friends. They answered all our questions about the area, checked in about how are experiences were, and were just friendly and helpful in every way! There is a washer and dryer, fabulous saunas, and delicious buffet breakfast. We could walk to ski trails, shops and restaurants. We didn't really need a car.

Offering 5 log cottages by Ylläs Mountain, Tunturioravat is a 5-minute walk from central Äkäslompolo. All cottages have wooden interiors, free Wi-Fi access and a private sauna. Ylläs Ski Resort is 2.7 km away. It was very clean and comfortable. It even looked nicer in reality than in pictures. Very cozy atmosphere. Sauna was great. Good location need the skiing tracks.

Hotel Ylläshumina is beautifully situated by Lake Äkäslompolo, near the village of Äkäslompolo. Guests have access to the excellent Ylläs ski slopes and a variety of hiking trails through the peaceful Lappish wilderness. We had a fantastic stay in this hotel. The property is beautiful, food is tasty, rooms are comfortable, and the saunas are really nice. Staff are friendly and happy to help you plan your stay.
