Ms Li was super hospitable! We soon realized that we came from sunny Singapore and the family chatted comfortably. The place is very clean and amenities well planned and detailed. It was snowing heavily and the house had more than adequate heaters to keep us warm and comfy. Photos shown and description are exactly what you will get.

A very comfy and clean Japaneses style hotel, we love it a lot! The snack bar on the 6th floor is a perfect match after having hot spring and the breakfast is quite good as well. Location is quite good, 3-5mins from Echigo Yuzawa station by walk only. We will certainly come back again.

This quirky house has been lovingly restored and updated by Nobu and her family who live next door. The amount and types of wood used in the construction of the house is incredible, from the wooden staircase and hand-crafted hand rail, to the curved wooden bathroom, giving the feel that you are inside a barrel. It includes the washing machine, a huge shower room and separate, very snazzy toilet. With all mod cons, we had a very comfortable week here. Even the futons were OK for this old, unaccustomed body. The bedroom is covered in beautiful, traditional tatami. The 3rd floor loft has a hammock and chairs with lovely views of the countryside, which you can also enjoy from the dining table downstairs. The kitchen is well equipped and basic condiments are provided (oil etc), so it was easy to self cater. The house has air conditioners upstairs and down as well as kerosene heaters so we were very cosy despite record amounts of snow. We parked directly out front and the watering hose did a good job keep the area clear of snow. The supplied snow shovel and brush were a life saver. Our host family were sweet, taking time to ensure we understood all the facilities and gave us gifts of local food.

The hosts were incredibly warm, welcoming and accommodating. They provide a variety of information and recommendations and really try their best through the language barrier. Location was very close to a number of resorts (we also had a car). Breakfast was very filling and at a great price. The host also has access to discounted tickets for resorts in the area. We were very sad to leave.

Classic charming pension with the most friendly owners! The private onsen across the street is incredible, I had it to myself every night, and there is an option for breakfast. The room was perfect for two of us, and Papa was so kind to drive us to and from the Myokokogen station and the mountains, and also on some errands which was so kind. It feels like you are stepping into a place that can’t be created, a piece of personality.

Offering ski-to-door access and ski storage space, Belle Vue Nishiura is located in Minami Uonuma in the Niigata Region, a 3-minute walk from Ishiuchi-Maruyama Ski Resort. Everything went so well at Belle Vue Nishiura, we felt almost 'homesick' to leave! My 2 friends and I stayed there for a short ski/snowboarding trip after our time in Tokyo. Communicating with Satoshi-san on pick-up time and location from the station was so easy, just like how he could answer our pre-arrival inquiries promptly too. His cozy little lodge provides a hearty breakfast with free flow tea/coffee/juices and bread, everyday we woke up only to think about hitting the slopes with all the logistics cared for! Gear/wear rentals, shuttle service are all available, with rental prices giving the resorts a run for their money. The shared bathrooms were spotless and hopping into the bath after a long day out was just the cherry on top. Satoshi-san and his family work round the clock in the lodge staying there almost feels like an invitation into his family home; we will definitely go back!

Offering a terrace and hot spring bath, Maruyama Onsen Kojyokan is situated in Minami Uonuma, 2 km from Maiko Snow Resort. Free private parking is available on site. The staff was accommodating, kind, and helpful. The shuttle was super convenient, as was scheduling. The food was amazing!

Yuzawa Grand Hotel is within a 2-minute walk from Echigo Yuzawa Train Station and the Sake Museum. It offers 3 public baths, a massage service and free parking on site. Beautiful place. Wonderful view.
