In a few of them the water could be very hot and perhaps a little difficult to handle, but that's probably part of the experience:) Fantastic dinner!

The best Hotel we stayed in Japan by far! The staff were very kind and friendly, dinner was very authentic and tasty, it was a great experience overall definitely would recommend coming here

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. This is my 3rd visits to Takayama this year during different seasons and this trip is mainly as a base for visiting Kamikochi. I booked this inn away from city center to experience the hospitality of a small family-run inn and the dining experience with wine pairing. Auberge Hida no Mori didn't disappoint 🙏🤗

This is a must if it is within your budget

Location, private onsen in the suite, kaiseki dinner is elegant and delicious, so is the delicious breakfast, both served in our room, it’s a great experience. The staffs are very warm and helpful. It gave free entrance ticket to the big public onsen which is a great extra benefit.

Really nice and cosy accommodation. The hosts were very friendly and went above and beyond to help us when we needed it. Highly recommend.

Gujo Hachiman is a lovely small town, and あぽろん is ideally located as a base for a visit. The accommodation is shared with the owners, but is private. Bedrooms are upstairs, but the bathroom and toilet is downstairs. The hosts were very helpful, despite having limited English, thanks to Google translate.
