Set in tranquil surroundings with large landscaped grounds and a picturesque garden terrace with mountain views, Tongariro Crossing Lodge offers uniquely spacious rooms with historic character. Staff were very friendly and full of advice on weather, shuttles, etc for the Tongariro Crossing walk, before and during our visit. The packed lunch provided for the walk really was top quality and more than enough !! Room was very clean and comfortable, while bars/eateries are only a short walk away.

Plateau Lodge is located 15 minutes’ drive from UNESCO World Heritage listed Tongariro National Park, where guests can enjoy skiing, hiking, cycling and paddling activities. LOVED the outdoor bathtub, and the room was very comfortable with a king bed and fridge/bar area. Great outdoor living room with couch and small table. Good restaurant within walking distance, Would love to stay for much longer!

The 1st stint I had an easier time checking in. However, once I checked in, it was just like the previous stay. It is a minimalist lodging, which is what I like. There is a community kitchen and cooking area, which is an excellent way to meet new people. I will stay here every time when I am in the Tongariro area.

Standing in the corridor in front of the room, you can see both Mount Ruapenu and Mount Ngauruhoe at the same time. The view is incredible. In unit #10, you can see the snow-capped mountains while lying in bed. Thought the unit near street, but Mary prepared earplugs in the room. Once closed door and windows at night, the noise is ok. I’m actually a light sleeper, but that night I slept very well, I woke up by alarm in the morning! Mary who runs this motel is so nice and so kind, she is very considerate of customers’ needs. She helped me a lot for checkin and check out time. I’m so thankful!!! The unit is very big and super clean. There are no odors smell in the kitchen or around the sink. The towels and bed sheets are very clean, the bed is comfortable. Everything let you feel clean and pleasant.

Set in National Park, Mountain Heights Lodge offers six self-contained motel units and four ensuite B&B rooms, BnB rooms welcomes children over the age of 14 and above. Private parking is free. Overall our stay was a great one. The room has complete amenities and it was cozy and very comfortable.
